Best UK Children’s Fashion Brand | Junior Design Awards 2023

We can finally announce the winners of the best UK children's fashion brand for 2023

Who:Little Cotton Clothes

What:Spring/Summer 23 Collection

Why:

This incredibly charming collection of beautiful cotton dresses and separates all scattered with vintage-inspired prints and trimmed with subtle ruffles and tulle really stole our judges’ hearts.

Everyone agreed that these were the kind of clothes they would love to dress their own children in, not only because of their relaxed nostalgic charm but because they feel so light, airy, well made and comfortable. The brand’s commitment to sustainability and ethical production was another big tick for the judges.

Just gorgeous. I love the vintage inspired designs and can see some more contemporary influences coming through with pretty tulle trims that I am sure will be really popular. A fabulous collection.

Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior

A stunning collection. These fabrics are to die for. That wrap yellow dress!!! Divine

Probably one of my favourite childrenswear brands right now. Always a lovely, joyful, pretty collection with some beautiful details - lace trims, scallop edges, the sweetest ditsy floral prints. I'm a regular Little Cotton Clothes customer so can vouch for the quality and longevity!

Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylist and content creator, @thelittlestylist

Beautiful colours and prints with a sweet and timeless feel.

Little House on the Prairie meets vintage Laura Ashely is how I would describe this collection and I wish I could shrink my teenage daughters to fit it!

Who:Erine Studio

What:Luxury dresses with a design twist

Why:

This beautiful collection of dresses really drew a crowd and many times during the judging days, we saw these clothes being held aloft and admired. The brand’s originality, exquisite detailing, stunning prints, and exciting use of texture and cut guaranteed EIRENE STUDIO a gold award.

Every little girl's dream.

There are some absolutely exquisite pieces in this collection!

Magical, original dresses that will turn all heads at special occasions.

Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior

I feel like these dresses really fill a gap in the market for truly original, fashion-forward dresses that are beautiful to look at and wonderfully comfortable to wear. Different and exciting but also extremely chic and elegant. Love!

Who:STYCH

What:The STYCH clothing collection spanning dress-up to party wear and accessories

Why:

This collection marks a move into more mainstream fashion as well as dress-up for STYCH, but as always with big shot of personality and fun. Our judges felt the clothes would be perfect for creative play as well as layering though daywear for a fun and eclectic feel. Gilets, leggings and fun sweatshirts all with that distinctive STYCH DNA impressed the panel, who felt that this was a great offering for imaginative kids who like to cut a dash.

The more familiar dressing up clothes also got the judges grinning with tulle skirts, leotards and embroidered capes bringing the sparkle and magic that bring kitchen plays and playroom performances to life.

A strong collection that takes STYCH firmly into clothing design territory. Congratulations!

Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior

I adore STYCH! Magical, fun pieces for dressing up. But all very tastefully done. I particularly love the capes and leotards this season!

Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylist and content creator, @thelittlestylist

Love this collection of mix and match pieces. STYCH do mash-up like no one else can!

Abi Campbell, Children’s fashion photographer, @abicampbellphotography

STYCH is definitely unique and stands out. Love the creativity on show here.

Who:Magnificent Stanley

What:Bespoke, handmade T-shirts

Why:

First of all we have to mention the beautiful presentation of these t-shirts, which arrived in paper parcels wrapped up in pretty string and layered in tissue paper. A lovely touch that we’re sure Magnificent Stanley’s customers enjoy too!

Our judges were super positive about these well-made, high quality t-shirts that use Liberty Print initials and numbers to personalise them.

Such sweet t-shirts that feel like fantastic quality and are finished with a lovely personalised initial or age. The perfect gift that will be worn and loved non-stop

Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior

My eldest had a Magnificent Staney T-shirt as a toddler and I'm pretty sure I still have it somewhere in a box of treasures & memories. A lovely gift to give or receive.

Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylist and content creator, @thelittlestylist

I love the simplicity of this idea. Timeless and beautifully executed.

George Reddings, Children’s fashion designer and founder of slow fashion brand, Colour Story, @george_ggredd_

Love the detailing using Liberty Print and great quality :-)

Who:Sass & Sparkle

What:Occasionwear for girls aged 8-16

Why:

This beautifully made collection of six party dresses plus a stylish denim inspired black jacket really excited the panel who agreed that this was something new and needed for the tween and teen market. Modest necklines and hem lengths combined with flattering cuts and pretty straps made these dresses feel age-appropriate, yet chic and grown-up enough to still feel like an exciting option for parties and special events.

The quality of the fabric and stitching was much admired and the clever choice of a pared-back palette rather than busy prints – was also commented on.

A really well thought out collection with beautiful attention to detail. I absolutely love the emerald green dress and the little cover-up jacket that is perfect for throwing on in the evening.

Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior

Great to see a brand that designs for this tween market. Cool but still sophisticated. An important sector where young teen girls want to look sassy but parents don't want them to go too far down this road too soon.

Abi Campbell, Children’s fashion photographer, @abicampbellphotography

Such a difficult market and age to dress... there is a real need for more age appropriate tween brands and collections!

Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylist and content creator, @thelittlestylist

I think Sass and Sparkle have done a great job filling a gap in the market and offering beautiful, stylish but cool tween ocassionwear. Well done S&S!

George Reddings, Children’s fashion designer and founder of slow fashion brand, Colour Story, @george_ggredd_

I have teenage daughters and I’m often depressed by the lack of appropriate options available to them – especially for family events. This concise collection is such a breath of fresh air!
