Best Children’s Activewear Collection | Junior Design Awards 2023

These activewear brands and accessories can withstand playtime in style - here's what our judges had to say...

Who:Muddy Puddles

What:The Antarctic Collection

Why:

The Antarctic Collection marks the 250th anniversary of the first British Explorers, led by Captain James Cook, to sail below the Antarctic circle in 1773. Our judges loved the exciting prints inspired by this intrepid expedition which could not be more appropriate for inspiring mini explorers. Antarctic Birds, Explorer Hats, Tents, Shooting Stars & Ice Crystals along with the brand’s signature Lightning Bolt all lent the clothes a fresh and modern feel while feeling super cosy.

The quality of these clothes, which are built for warmth and fending off water was commented on time and time again and the panel was impressed by Muddy Puddles’ commitment to using eco-friendly materials and packaging.

I think this is my favourite collection yet. The deep colours work so well together and there are so many lovely touches including a hat print on a hat! Love!

Such a fantastic collection. Love the graphic prints, colours and fantastic attention to detail that make these jackets and snowsuits incredibly cosy and warm. The matching coats and hats are so cute!

Who:Heidi Rose London

What:Bonnie & Augustus Robe Cover Ups

Why:

Our judges loved these sweet multi-purpose robes made from a choice of floral or star-strewn reversible fabrics that are plain on one side and patterned on the other. Designed to combine function with charming childhood style, these zip-up dressing gown-come beach outfits really impressed our panel in terms of design and quality.

From their deep pointy hoods topped off with a tassel to their soft cotton muslin fabrics and roomy cuts, our judges could see these becoming a staple item in many a child’s wardrobe.

These robes are adorable. I love the choice of fabrics and the zip-up fastening is great for little hands. No more lost sashes!

The sweetest robes that any child would look forward to wearing whether it be for a beach adventure or a cosy cover-up in the evening. A really well-thought-out design.

Who:Slipfree

What:Slipfree non-slip swim shoes

Why:

Hazardous, slippery swimming pools are no longer an issue with these incredibly simple slip-free swim shoes. Our judges felt these colourful slip-on shoes would be great for young kids on holiday or anyone just visiting the local swimming pool.

Lightweight and snug to the foot, they are easy to swim in and they’re also great for protecting little feet from hot sand on the beach and keeping those dreaded verrucas at bay too.

Love the fun and colourful designs. These are so useful and will not only prevent horrible poolside falls but will keep feet healthy at public baths.

Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior

Brilliant idea! I'm sure we'll see many a child in these over the summer months...

Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylist and content creator, @thelittlestylist

Perfect for any kids who love running around the swimming pool and perching over rockpools. I can imagine they’re great for sand-phobic kids too!
