Best Subscription Box | Junior Design Awards 2022

Over the last few years and especially during Covid times the quality of kids subscription boxes has blossomed. These are the ones we want landing on our doormat month after month...

Who:Mud & Bloom

What:Children’s Gardening and Nature Crafts Subscription Boxes

Why:

Green fingered, nature enthusiasts or even yet to be converted enthusiasts will love these eco-conscious boxes, which contain five seasonal gardening and nature craft activities, along with a seasonally inspired nature newsletter and spotting activities to teach children about animals, plants, insects, birds and the seasons.

Our judges felt these packs were priced well, packed full of exciting activities and were a wonderful way of getting kids to connect with nature and explore the great outdoors.

There’s so much to get busy with here! Great for getting kids out of the house and igniting an interest in growing and nature.

Lovely attention to detail, fun to open and discover all the individual packages - well labelled and clear. Great to have a different option to the many craft boxes on the market.

Who:International Elf Service

What:Wonders at Roots of Fantastical Matters for children age 6-12 years

Why:

Any child caught up in the magical world of books like Harry Potter, the Worst Witch or Percy Jackson will love this subscription box which immerses children in a series of personalised, story-based adventures interspersed with magic and myth inspired STREAM-based activities (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Maths). Our judges loved the originality of this subscription service that comes in a series of regal looking purple envelopes that ‘magically’ appear around the house (parents may have to act as conduits of magic here).

The sleek looking keepsake box to store all those important letters, spells and experiments away, feels mystical and special.

Perfect for kids who love reading, have a rich imaginations and love anything a little bit spooky!

Bonita Turner, Editor of JUNIOR

I love these mysterious letters and activities that pop up around the house! The stories feel well written, multi-layered and exciting and I like the fact that all the activities use recycled materials from around the house, rather than adding to landfill and clutter with more plastic or fiddly bits and bobs.

Eleonore Crompton, Deputy Editor, JUNIOR

Eye catching and varied. Would pull children in no doubt. Lots to get absorbed in - detailed worksheets and exciting activities to get involved in. Again, a box I haven’t seen before and know would be a hit.
