Best Interiors Product Design (Furniture) | Junior Design Awards 2022

Furniture for children needs to be safe, fun, functional - and of course gorgeous! These award winning designs caught the attention of the JDA judges...

Who:bada&bou

What:Soft wool characters designed to work as seating, storage and toys

Why:

A German design brand who specialise in producing playful and timeless seating that doubles up as sensory toys that appeal to both adults and children. Our panel loved the minimal design and muted gender neutral tones of these animals who create a fun and friendly presence in any play space for children. In fact one of the huge attractions of these beautifully crafted pieces was that they would look good in any room in the house.

The JDA judges were all in agreement that these multi-purpose ride-on toys would delight all children and would be passed down through generations. Hence why we felt they deserved our highest accolade.

Beautifully made toys disguised as furniture or is that the other way round? I absolutely love these soft and sculptural looking pieces that encourage play and sensory discovery while elevating any room in the house.

So, so cute!! And the design is so simple but therefore amazing.

This is a brilliant item. Not only does it look fabulous but it's very practical. It offers three different movements (rocking, jumping and rolling) where the child can experience active and sensory play, but it can also be used simply as a comfortable seat to relax in.

A childhood dream come true. Who wouldn’t want to ride on a whale, hop on a rabbit or whiz about on an elephant?! So much fun.

Who:Aristot

What:A modular bassinet that converts into a coffee table and stool

Why:

These sumptuous bassinets give babies a touch of luxury on their very first night at home and then continue to delight the whole family by converting into stylish pieces of furniture including a table, stool or ottoman.

Our judges felt this range had really thought about ways to extend the life of a bassinet in a chic and exciting way.

A brilliant example of how to give luxury baby furniture a new and exciting lease of life when it’s fulfilled its original role.

What:Wonderland Bookcase

Why:

This compact bookcase with extra built in cubby holes for toy storage and the option of storing books in a front facing or traditional spine facing way really impressed our judges who loved the clever design and the very real possibility of a tidy bedroom floor presented by this storage unit!

Our judges felt this was a stylish and truly useful bookcase with added extras that would be a pleasure for kids to use and add a stylish focus point to any room.
