Junior Design Awards 2022 / 26 September 2022

Best Children’s Sleepwear Collection (Child) | Junior Design Awards 2022

Over the last few years the best children's sleepwear category has grown and grown - there is so much stylish nightwear available for kids. But, according to the JDA22 judges these are the only ones to be seen in (and sleep in of course!)

Who:FAUNE

What:Timeless nightwear for children

Why:

Faune’s vision “to create beautiful timeless pieces, which are made to last.” has held true over their five year existence and all of our judges were completely enchanted by their stunning range of sleepwear that is just too pretty to keep for bed. Flowing silhouettes inspired by vintage patterns, featuring exquisite embroidery, ruffles, pintucks and piping make this a brand that is turned to time and time again by parents who want their children to look like the original cast of Peter Pan.

Our regular judges were excited to see that Faune has stayed true to its slow fashion ethics, but has added print, quilting and subtle colour washes into the mix, extending their offering. Taking into consideration their stunning designs and ethical production values, the judging panel felt this brand deserved nothing less than a Platinum award.

These are the clothes you’ll never want them to grow out of and that memories are made of. Perfect for flower girl dresses or just a blissful night’s sleep. It has been wonderful to watch this brand bloom. Massive congratulations on our highest accolade - Platinum.

Bonita Turner, Editor of JUNIOR

Truly beautiful clothing for your little girl! Great attention to detail and silhouettes that will always be timeless yet current. With the appeal of ease and gentle structure, these garments are perfect for any occasion.

Alissa Bertrand, circular fashion designer and stylist @jabellafleur

We love the details! Pepper could picture herself wearing them all :)

Bonnie and Pepper Van Geel Art Director of @pepper.pics

Just the prettiest. Way too pretty to save for bedtime... I really want one of the women’s nightdresses for myself!

Charlotte Kewley, children’s stylist, @thelittlestylist

An absolutely beautiful brand.

Emma Donnelly, photographer and art director @takeapicturelady

If there was such thing as Faune Land, I would volunteer to live there. The nightdresses, the pyjamas, the bed jackets – all breath-taking.

Eleonore Crompton, Deputy Editor, JUNIOR

Beautiful timeless designs, which can be worn day or night. Beautiful quality.

Margherita Hunt, co-founder of @shopmaison_m

Faune always hits the nail on the head with their classic designs and muted colours. A solid favourite of mine every season.

Who:If Only If

What:Girls cotton nightdresses

Why:

A new brand to the JDA’s, If Only If, was hugely popular with our judges, many of whom were delighted to discover this brand for the first time. The collection is a celebration of the traditional white cotton nightdress and although the design is rooted in classic nightwear, our panel felt that this brand had honoured time old traditional silhouettes and techniques with a lighter touch that gave these pieces a charming and incredibly wearable feel.

As well as admiring the beautiful ruffles and scallop edging, our panel appreciated the brand’s slow fashion credentials and agreed that these were clothes that could be handed down through many lucky children.

Just exquisite. The smocking and the scalloped edging is so, so pretty and I love the fact that you can twin with your grown-up in these.

Bonita Turner, Editor of JUNIOR

The attention to detail in preserving these classic styles and details is perfect! They’re so beautiful - how can they only be for night time?

Alissa Bertand, circular fashion designer and stylist, @jabellafleur

Just beautiful!

Bonnie and Pepper Van Geel of @pepper.pics

Just Dreamy.

Charlotte Kewley, children’s stylist @thelittlestylist

Beautiful and timeless.

Emma McMenemy, photographer and art director, @takeapicturelady

Pretty detailing, delicate, age appropriate designs, which can be easily sized up for mother/daughter wear.

Margherita Hunt, co-founder of @shopmaison_m

The fabrics and embroidered finish in all these designs is what makes this brand stand out.

Mooi Ginsburg, co-founder of @shopmaison_m

The nightdresses from vintage story books come to life. I absolutely love this collection.

Eleonore Crompton, Deputy Editor, JUNIOR

Who:The Little White Company

What:Premium classic nightwear for children

Why:

The Little White Company dazzled again with their beautiful selection of cotton nightwear, including the sweetest seersucker pyjamas with a distinctly vintage feel and some super soft jersey nightdresses and PJ sets for a more relaxed and cosy feel. And who could forget the Little White Company’s classic hydrocotton robes with gorgeous little ear details?

Our judges agreed that these much coveted dressing gowns, were the perfect pull on, to keep little ones warm and snug after a bath.

No one does premium high street sleepwear like The Little White Company and I’d say this is their best collection yet.

Bonita Turner, Editor of JUNIOR

Lovely, classic nightwear from a trusted brand. You can't go wrong with The Little White Company.

Charlotte Kewley, children’s stylist, @thelittlestylist

Nice classic designs - particularly like the muslin and seersucker stripes.

Margherita Hunt, co-founder of @shopmaison_m

Lovely classic examples as always from TLWC.

Mooi Ginsburg, co-founder of @shopmaison_m

Who:Roanne Orlebar Designs

What:From The Garden Pyjamas

Why:

This beautiful set of pyjamas, made a big impact on our judges who could see the extraordinary level of care and attention that had gone into designing and making them, from the beautiful frilled collar to the seasonally appropriate floral illustrations featured in the print.

The panel thought these pyjamas were adorable and agreed that they felt super soft against the skin and were generously cut with a good night’s sleep in mind. Made with GOTS organic cotton, printed in Italy with OEKO-Tex accreditation and presented and posted in eco-friendly packaging, this brand impressed on an ethical level too.

Unique, pretty and a great collar that would look equally as good under a pinafore or knitted cardigan as it would for bed!

Charlotte Kewley, children’s stylist, @thelittlestylist

Super pretty designs and soft fabric.

Mooi Ginsburg, co-founder of @shopmaison_m

The pyjamas that you look forward to wearing, even if you don’t want to go to bed yet!

Bonita Turner, Editor of JUNIOR

These beautiful pyjamas are a true labour of love and they would make the perfect gift for a lucky little girl. Adorable.

Eleonore Crompton, Deputy Editor, JUNIOR

Who:Their Nibs

What:Classic cotton pyjamas with exciting hand drawn prints

Why:

These 100% cotton printed kids pyjamas are exactly the classic shape we all love complete with traditional details including piping and pockets. The point of difference comes with their wonderfully vibrant, hand drawn prints of fabulous flora and fauna. Our judges loved the matching adult and mini options in this range and could see these PJ’s taking centre stage on Christmas morning and throughout the year.

The quality of this sleepwear was frequently noted by our panel who also felt that the price point was very reasonable considering the premium feel of the garments. The JDA judges were also touched to hear that 20% of the profits from the kids pyjamas in the range sold online are donated to the brand’s partner charity, Coram, an adoption charity very close to their heart.

Classic, beautifully made Pyjamas with cool vibrant prints that kids and adults will love.

Bonita Turner, Editor of JUNIOR

Super cute, vibrant, bold prints my children would love. Pretty design / cut.

Margherita Hunt, co-founder @shopmaison_m

So nice to see some original print designs.

Mooi Ginsburg, co-founder @shopmaison_m

Such a fab collection with gorgeous piping details, comfy roomy cuts and a whole world of imagination, accessed through print.

Eleonore Crompton, Deputy Editor, JUNIOR

Who:Love to Dream

What:Love to Dream Layers Collection

Why:

This super sweet collection featuring jaunty illustrations and prints that children and adults will love, really impressed the panel who could see the cosy and sleep safe benefits of this ‘Layers Collection’ which although designed to be worn underneath the brand’s successful Swaddle Up sleep bag, look wonderfully cute in their own right!

The fact that these separates are designed to be mixed and matched also appealed to our judges who were all familiar with the frustration of not being able to find the right top to match the bottoms!

Adore the hand drawn feel of the illustrations that will definitely appeal to young children. The Brekky print is my favourite!

Bonita Turner, Editor of JUNIOR

Love the zip details.

Mooi Ginsburg, co-founder @shopmaison_m

Lovely soft separates with charming prints that are bound to stimulate fun conversations.
