Who:Lovevery
What:The Play Kits
Why:
The enthusiasm for this developmentally considered subscription service was off the charts. Our judges loved these beautifully considered, hand-finished toys that are delivered to coincide with new stages of development in your child’s life. Described as a stage-based learning program designed to promote brain development through play during the early years of childhood, our panel could see how engaging these toys would be, supporting all kinds of learning, from language and motor skills to social-emotional learning. Our judges loved every design aspect here, including the clever cardboard packaging with cool graphics and inspiring photography and most importantly, the wonderfully tactile toys made with sustainably harvested wood, non toxic paint, and baby-safe plastics.
I am such a huge fan of this brand. These well-thought-out, educational and attractive play kits are a game-changer. There’s nothing else like it on the market and I highly recommend them.
This is my favourite kids’ brand. Every couple of months they send you a box of toys that are perfect for the exact stage of your child’s development. They look gorgeous, they’re wooden and I love them…
The research and incredible craftsmanship that goes into this range never fails to amaze me.

Who:Tinkerer
What:Tinkerer STEAM Box
Why:
These STEAM subscription boxes for children aged 3-12 really stood out to our panel who thought this delivery service would be ideal for curious kids who love to build things. Each box comes with an age-appropriate STEAM project, including all materials needed, often incorporating the packing into the project for the ultimate in recycling. The JDA judges felt the projects were challenging but achievable making them super satisfying for kids to complete and they loved the careful thought that goes into every kit.
Using a wealth of knowledge from their team of engineers and designers, Tinkerer’s STEAM projects excite kids, stretch their skills and give them immense satisfaction.
Randomly we signed up to Tinkerer for our nine-year-old son a few months ago and he is elated every time a new package arrives. It is such a joy to see him forget screens and dive straight into a mini-engineering project. The results are always spectacular and his creations get proudly displayed when they are completed.
