JUNIOR DESIGN AWARDS WINNERS FOR BEST CHILDREN'S FASHION BRAND: PLATINUM

WHO: The Middle Daughter
WHAT:
A British girlswear brand offering modern thoughtful styles for girls from age 2-16yrs.

WHY: Time and time again the clothes from this collection were pulled from the rail and held aloft in wonder. The gorgeous colour palette, botanical prints, embroidered fabrics and beautiful full volume skirts and sleeves stood out to everyone, who could see just how much thought and care had gone into every piece. The panel felt that this collection was a serious cut above, with a clear and highly covetable stylistic vision and a strong emphasis on quality and finish. A contemporary clothing collection for fun days and dress up days that will be handed down and gleefully accepted through generations.

Just stunning. I can’t think of another brand that makes dresses for little girls and discerning teens and tweens with so much success. A go-to destination for party dresses and a touch of every day chic.

WHO: Smock London
WHAT: Hand-made cotton smock dresses with a contemporary twist
WHY:
Pure joy. Everyone who judged this beautiful collection of airy cotton dresses with the most exquisite smocking details in exciting pops of neon or rainbow was completely smitten. The panel felt the use of colour and print teamed with embroidery was just spot on and that this range would be perfect for anyone looking for a stand-out gift to give a little girl or an outfit for a very special event. JUNIOR DESIGN AWARDS WINNERS FOR BEST CHILDREN'S FASHION BRAND: JOINT GOLD

WHO: Mika & Milo Cashmere
WHAT:
Scottish Cashmere Separates for children
WHY: The beautifully soft blend of cashmere and merino in these jumpers, cardigans and dresses is heaven to touch. Our judges were extremely impressed by both the exceptional quality of these pieces and the mix of cool contemporary designs with some more traditional silhouettes. Lightning bolt and rocket motifs, simple pared back dresses and the eternally popular popcorn knit cardigan all scored highly. The brand’s emphasis on sustainability and passing down treasured heirloom pieces also resonated with the panel.

Really cool. To find a fashion forward brand making in cashmere. I used to dress my own kids in head-to-toe cashmere in winter and the options were very limited! Really lovely collection.
Abi Campbell, children’s fashion photographer and brand consultant, @abicampbellphotography
Beautiful pieces. So lovely to hear a brand's backstory too.
Charlotte Kewley, children’s stylist, @thelittlestylist
Love the quality and combination of timeless & modern pieces. Fascinating story behind the brand. As a fellow Scot I know a little about Scottish cashmere, loved hearing more.

These are the most beautiful, luxurious, sustainable pieces. They have a wonderful family design history and are perfect for future hand-me-downs.

JUNIOR DESIGN AWARDS WINNERS FOR BEST CHILDREN'S FASHION BRAND: SILVER

WHO: Rachel Riley
WHAT:
A British childrenswear brand with an international reputation for dressing Royal Babies and Children for over 25 years.

WHY: These stunning hand-finished clothes that hark back to the era of Silvercross prams and Sunday Best, were a huge hit with our panel. As well as clothes with a strong heritage feel, including retro print romper suits and pretty smocked dresses, there are also some more contemporary pieces in the collection for children who want something to sparkle in. Rachel Riley’s signature Mary-Jane slippers and various other accessories are gasp-out-loud adorable and our judges agreed that there is no better source of classic clothes that give a firm nod to the quality and cuts of yesteryear, while making children look so beautifully dressed today.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are fans and so am I! I can’t think of another brand that makes such wonderfully classic clothes that allow children to be children in the chicest way.
Bonita Turner, Editor of JUNIOR
So lovely to see all of the brand collaborations. I adore the Smalls x Rachel Riley pieces. Perfect partnership.

I love the mix of classic and modern in her designs. Clothes that parents and kids alike will love and use for years and years. Amazing quality - all made in England!

Our judges were super impressed with this family run brand, that designs their clothes in the UK and uses ethical factories for their production. The collection was deemed bright, fun and extremely wearable with extra flourishes that the panel felt would make kids feel really special. Great dresses, stylish boys’ separates and a strong occasion wear offering made this brand really stand out. The bridesmaid dress in particular with beautiful ruffles and a stunning full skirt really stood out to many of our judges who felt both the quality and price was fantastic.

Some beautiful silhouettes here and a great choice of pattern and colour.
