The wait is over Trolls World Tour the movie is here!

Albeit, not quiet in the way planned when we first heard there was going to be an all-star sequel to the 2016 DreamWorks Animation’s musical hit, Trolls. As Trolls World Tour was due to be released in cinemas nationwide this Monday 6th April, but will now be available to watch at home from the very same date.

How? Because… Trolls World Tour is getting an early video on-demand release to help combat the coronavirus pandemic’s effects on the entertainment industry – which means children can start their ‘Easter Holidays’ and enjoy a true cinematic experience and feel good movie at home. Get the home-made popcorn ready.

The Trolls sequel sees Justin Timberlake and Anna Kendrick reprise their roles as Poppy and Branch, who’ll have to deal with a brand new threat in the shape of rocker trolls hellbent on destroying all other music. In an adventure that will take them well beyond what they’ve known before, Poppy (Kendrick) and Branch (Timberlake) discover that they’re from one of six different Trolls tribes scattered over six different lands and devoted to six different kinds of music: Funk, Country, Techno, Classical, Pop and Rock.

Their world is about to get a whole lot bigger and, a whole lot louder!

Here are 5 Reasons to
Download and Watch Trolls World Tour

1
The All-Cast Voice cast is very 'Starry'

Troll Work Tour brings together one of the largest and most acclaimed groups of musical talent ever assembled for an animated film. Members of the different musical troll tribes include:

  • Funk Trolls: Mary J. Blige as Queen Essence, George Clinton and Anderson.Paak.
  • Country Trolls: Kelly Clarkson as Mayor.Delta Dawn and Sam Rockwell
  • Techno Trolls: Anthony Ramos and Da’Vine Joy Randolph
  • Classical Trolls: Gustavi Dudamel as Trollzart and Charlyne as Pennywhistle
  • Pop and Rock Trolls: Ester Dean, Rachel Bloom as Barb, Queen of Rock and Kenan Thompson raps as a newborn Pop Troll named Tiny Diamond.
  • Reggae/K-Pop and Jazz Trolls: Jamie Dornan Flula Borg as Dickory
2
We finally meet 'Tiny Diamond'

When Guy Diamond – who usually *farts glitter* lays an egg from his hair, no one is prepared but what pops out! Newborn Tiny Dimond, small but fierce is a wildly nimble rapper and has glasses that are almost as big as he is.

With his wide variety of hip-hop musical knowledge and influence Tiny represents the next generation of Pop Trolls. Tiny is spectacularly brought to live by Saturday Night Live actor and comedian, Kenan Thompson. We think he is set to be the kids favourite character by far.

3
Poppy Gets (home) Schooled...

In the original Trolls movie Poppy shows the giant Bergens the way to seek inner light, in this new movie, it is the new queen herself who becomes the student.

As Poppy discovers that every voice matters and that we all need to listen now more than ever. Poppy gains a deeper understanding of her fellow Trolls and figures out how her tribe must live together in musical peace – and, with the rest of their Trolls World.

4
... And, learns about Diversity

Throughout the movie Poppy comes to the realisation that she was previously full of herself and ignorant to the diversity and value of other people, their cultures and music styles – as the movie delves into the important of celebrating the differences and the downsides of misplaced righteousness and pride within particular groups. A true age-appropriate lesson for children and their families.

5
It's stars real-life rock legend Ozzy Osbourne

The retired regent of the Hard Rock Trolls, voiced by the man himself as King Thrash has just passed the crown down to his daughter, Barb. Years of rocking all night and partying every day have taken a toll on the hard-thrashing monarch, he’s still got plenty of fight left (life intimidating art here?).

King Thrash goes everywhere in his motorized rock wheelchair—a mobile throne covered in black leather, adorned with metallic skulls, and with plenty of pockets to stash his nutritional-supplement shakes and water pills. Director Walt Dohrn and his co-director Dave Smith, said on meeting an idol face-to-face was a bit surreal:

Ozzy’s such a hero of all ours. We grew up with him and every facet of his career. He cuts through the small talk. Man, he was ready to get right to work and got super emotional during the sessions. He’s King Thrash for real.
