It’s a great way to introduce little kids to theatre
The show is intended for children aged 3+ but all ages are welcome, and the interactive, informal format of the performance means nobody will be judged for laughing, shouting, crying or joining it. Booster seats are available so little ones can get a good view and, most importantly, the show’s only an hour long, so it’s far more appropriate for tiny theatregoers than a 2-act West End musical.
The creative team have a serious pedigree
If you’re Julia Donaldson devotees, you’ll recognise some of the creative forces behind the show. Composer Joe Stilgoe and Director Katie Beard were both involved in the stage productions of Zog and Zog and the Flying Doctors, and actor James Stirling also toured the UK with Zog. Freckle Productions, the company behind the show, also produced many other Donaldson/Scheffler adaptations, including Stick Man, Tiddler and Tabby McTat – so you know you’re in very safe hands.

It teaches a great lesson
Although fun is the first order of business with this show, the message behind it is a great one, empowering kids to feel brave and fearless. The Baddies teaches them that there’s really nothing to be scared of when it comes to trolls, witches and ghosts…even if this is a very different witch to the one who appears in that other great Donaldson classic, Room on the Broom.
You can make a day of it with a themed afternoon tea
Before or after the show, head over to the 5* hotel The Rubens at the Palace, where a special twist has been put on the hotel’s luxurious Little Prince & Princess Afternoon Tea. It’s a brilliant way to turn your theatre trip into a really special day. Tiny attendees of The Baddies will be treated to a special branded macaron and themed entertainment goodies, elevating an already indulgent afternoon tea spread that includes a milkshake or hot chocolate, scones and sweet treats and kid-friendly sandwiches. Adults can enjoy the traditional Royal Afternoon Tea at the same time – you’ll get 15% off when dining on the same day as the performance.
There’s so much to do once you’re done
Cadogan Hall is a stone’s throw from Sloane Square and the King’s Road, and there are plenty of other things to do in the surrounding areas. Head north to visit Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park or Kensington Gardens, or walk south and cross over the bridge to Battersea Park and its pagoda, boating lake and brilliant children’s zoo.
