Why:
Shaking up the children’s footwear scene one pair of funky sandals at a time. This brand was a clear favourite with our judges who absolutely loved the clever details like removable insoles and wide toe boxes, and thought the range of designs was impressive. The brand focuses on making shoes that last 50% longer than the average child’s shoe and putting foot health at the forefront of every design choice without compromising on style. Our panel was head over heels for the leopard print sandals!
My most frequent complaint about childrenswear is how uninteresting the footwear is. And if it's interesting, it's at the cost of comfort or foot development. The industry has been BEGGING for a brand like Zig & Star to come and shake it up. A removable insole? INGENIOUS. Wide toe box? INCREDIBLE. Actually tasteful designs? PERFECT. I can't think of a box these shoes don't tick. They're lightweight, hardwearing and funky. Being podiatrist approved is the icing on the cake. My favourites are the silver trainer & leopard sandals. Just one question...do they do them in adult sizes?
Another favourite of mine. And another category which has been so hard to judge - so many amazing brands this year. A small brand doing big things with incredibly cool shoes and the best leopard print sandals.

It’s clear to see from their feedback that our judges loved these beautifully designed shoes. The thoughtful details like the little cut-out hearts on the Daphne sandal, sweetly named after the founder’s daughter and rip-tape fastenings disguised by decorative buckles scored extra marks with our panel. And the lovely colour options make these shoes super versatile additions to any little wardrobe.
The heart detailing is so pretty and the lovely muted pastels make these shoes so versatile for different outfits and occasions. Clearly made by someone who knows what they are doing!

These Peppa Pig wellies brought smiles to our judges, who thought the colour changing technology and fun Peppa Pig print would be an instant hit with kids who love a muddy puddle as much as Peppa does! The panel felt that these wellies were a great mix of practicality and fun, making them the perfect companions for a rainy-day adventure.
I'd struggle to find a child who wouldn't be endlessly entertained by these super fun, branded & colour changing wellies. They have to be in a small category of brands that have successfully done a tasteful character collaboration that children will also love!!
My daughter would go wild for these! I've long been a fan of the Grass & Air colour change technology. Such a cool feature for kidswear.
