Ex Cos Buyer launches Clothing rental subscription service for kids

OR Collective is the new cool kids clothing rental service in town and we're impressed...

By Bonita Turner

Circular fashion is gaining momentum in kid’s clothing and we are here for it. Having supported a growing number of vintage and clothes rental businesses through the Junior Design Awards over the last couple of years, we are always heartened to see how small businesses are striving to stand on the hems of fast fashion to help slow things down and create a much more sustainable and planet friendly way of shopping for babies and children.

When we heard that Bliss Staple, ex Head Buyer for chic Scandinavian store COS was setting up a new kids clothing rental and subscription service our ears pricked up. Like many parents, we are big fans of the pared back, cool aesthetic of this high end, high street retailer and we were excited to see what Bliss had in store.

And we weren’t disappointed! OR, which stands for On Rotation, features a fantastic selection of sustainable brands with a minimal aesthetic including The Simple Folk, L.F. Markey, and Claude & Co. Subscription packages start at £36 per month and allow parents to rotate their kids’ wardrobe whenever they have grown out of their clothes or they fancy a change. We love the edit of pared back basics and more special pieces that will form the foundations of an easy to wear, practical and stylish capsule wardrobe for babies and toddlers.

These are clothes that will get noticed for being well designed and well made and parents can feel reassured that they’re part of a sustainable rental model, which definitely fulfils its mission to reduce the impact that fashion has on the planet without compromising on style.

Change starts with how we use things, not how we remove them.

OR stocks ages 0-3years, with plans to expand up in age very soon and they organise regular pop ups and community events where they are based in East London. The operation is currently London focussed with most clothing bundles delivered by hand (very low carbon impact!) but there are plans to scale the business up with a nationwide postal service very soon. We watch this space very keenly!

Subscription packages start at £36 per month and include Plan A: Mix and Match, Plan B: The Capsule Collection and Plan C: The Or Wardrobe
