Percy Jackson & The Lightning Thief

Your heart has to go out to poor Percy: his dyslexia and ADHD has put a blight on his life, not to mention his obnoxious stepfather. What a surprise, then, to discover that Percy is actually a demigod, the offspring of a mortal mother and Poseidon, which explains his uncanny ability to breathe underwater. It also explains why a motley crew of furies, dragons and mythical creatures are chasing him, believing he has stolen Zeus’s lightning bolt. The entire planet is now in jeopardy as ominous black storm clouds gather. Supported by a fierce cast of creatures, Percy’s quest is to prevent calamity and restore harmony. As this appealing new hero tries to come to terms with his newly discovered powers, he is helped along by fellow demigod (and romantic interest), Annabeth, and his half-man, half-goat protector, Grover.

Directed by Chris “Harry Potter” Columbus, this action adventure is crammed with special effects and has intrigue and high-octane drama from start to finish. It will also have your child reaching for the original novels by Rick Riordan. There are six so far, so expect a sequel or two…

Cert U, £19.99 (DVD), £27.99 (BLU-RAY). For further details, visit www.percyjackson.co.uk
