The Classic Story

Zog is based on the popular book by the brilliant writing and illustrating duo of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. The story of a larger than life dragon who is eager to win a golden star at Madam Dragon’s school - a school where dragons learn all the things that dragons need to know. Zog was first published in 2010 and won the Galaxy National Children’s Book of the Year Award. It has gone on to become a perennial bestseller.

A Life-Lesson for Little Kids

A story of resilience and, that true compassion wins the day. After many bumps, burns and set-backs Zog roars his way through school, until the plucky Princess Pearl patches him up ready to face a duel with Sir Gadabout the Great! But, the gang soon realise that the world is already full of bumps and burns, and that they’d rather ‘give their care’. A beautiful tale and a life-lesson all rolled into one.

The Music and Puppetry

After the animated film on BBC (shown Christmas Day 2018) it was only a matter of time before a live performance was produced, to again bring this popular book to life. A bold production that features acting, inventive hand-crafted puppetry (created by Little Angel Theatre co-founder Lyndie Wright) all designed to resemble Scheffler’s distinctive illustrations, catchy, original music and of course, lots of laughs. Anyone who knows the book will recognise all the little details on the stage, including birds, plants and other cute little animals to truly bring the pages to life.

Suitable for ALL

With a running time of 60-minutes this fun, colourful and heartwarming show really is suitable for all. The songs, fast-paced action and of course, the familiar story will keep even the youngest members of the audience captivated throughout. Zoe has been produced by Freckle Productions (recently known for other McDonaldson shows Tabby McTat, Tiddler and Other Terrific Tales and Stick Man) and Rose Theatre Kingston. NOTE: There is also special signed performances, meaning it can also be enjoyed by the deaf and hearing impaired too (check site for more details).

A Great First Theatre Experience

Flying into London this Summer, Zog would make the perfect first theatre experience for any child at the beautiful Cadogan Hall (just a few minutes from Sloane Street tube). The theatre is airy and spacious giving kids a kinder experience than some of the bigger, more overwhelming theatres that can feel intimidating. Plus the running time makes it ideal for younger viewers. The UK tour continues into next year also.
