Ever been cruising along the motorway listening to music with the kids only to feel your face going pink and see your knuckles going white as you realise you're all singing along to some RATHER RISQUÉ lyrics? Please don't ask me what that means, please don't ask me what that means and please don't sing that to granny later, are prayers that are rarely answered...

Thank goodness for My Moozik, a new musical venture designed to bridge the gap between nursery rhymes and inappropriate pop music. Founder Lottie Faulkner, the sister (and manager) of double-platinum selling artist Newton Faulkner says:

We wanted to create an album of very high quality music that kids and grown ups can enjoy together that hopefully also makes those (often tough) jobs such as making friends, eating greens and going to bed, just that little bit easier. It’s an amazing album and one that will make a great soundtrack to their day.

The men behind the music: Toby Faulkner, Newton Faulkner and friend Jimmy Sims

Unsurprisingly the album was written by Newton, his older brother Toby Faulkner and friend Jimmy Sims. As well as offering families a collection of songs that won’t make parents want to tear their hair out, the album has also been designed to support kids and their development. Dr. Rosanna Edey, a researcher in developmental neuropsychology, says, "We sometimes forget that children's brains work very differently to adults, which can make simple tasks seem much harder. All through childhood their brains are busily absorbing information from their environments as they build a neural network to help them make sense of everything around them. Music is an ideal way to engage children and help them learn. At around age four, children start to get much better at detecting basic features of music, like tempo and mode, which is why simple nursery rhymes start to get a bit boring! The more complex and varied songs in "My Moozik" is therefore not only more interesting to the developing brain, but it also helps to scaffold a route and teaches some important social lessons.”

No more rude lyrics? No more endless rounds of The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round? We are all in favour of this!

The My Moozik Debut album 'My Day' can be bought as a CD with a beautifully illustrated hardback lyric book and can be listened to on all the usual platforms and streaming services. The songs will also be available to enjoy on the My Moozik YouTube channel.
