Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa
Mauritius
Families in search of a resort that warmly welcomes children, offers plenty of activities for all ages and rooms designed with kids in mind, will love Trou Aux Biches, situated in the Pamplemousses District, on the northwest coast of Mauritius.
On our recent trip, we could see lots of families with young children and babies enjoying the easy-to-navigate grounds, while the array of activities and sports facilities on offer for grownups and older kids was truly excellent.
10 Things we Loved About Trou Aux Biches, Mauritius
Families will adore:
- The boardwalk! There’s a beautiful wooden walkway that flanks a palm strewn white beach, which is perfect for calming buggy walks and magical evening strolls.
- The range of excellent restaurants. From elegant Asian food to poolside burgers, there was something to suit every taste and every occasion. Comfortable highchairs are provided.
- The beachside bars. There was a wonderfully relaxed feeling at all the half indoor and outdoor bars. We saw lots of families gathering here in the early evenings for live music entertainment and mocktails for the kids, while head bartender and mixologist, Benito whips up the most incredible cocktails for the grownups! Buggies and prams can easily be pulled up to the tables which are spaciously set out and on one level.
- The incredible swimming pools. The main pool is divided into different depths and is perfect for splashing about in with children or taking a long relaxing swim with ocean views for miles.
- The Kids’ Club. Beautifully set up to entertain kids of varying ages with its own pool and eating area, there are lots of fab activities and events that children will love. There is also a separate Teen Club for kids age 12 to 17 and a complimentary babysitting service from 1p.m. to 4p.m. on weekdays for infants between 1 and 3 years old.
- The Spa. A wonderfully tranquil and beautiful space, staffed by a talented team of therapists. The full body massage is blissful.
- The rooms. We loved the variety of suites on offer, which can be adapted to suit different sizes of families. There were also rooms specially designed for kids with lower beds and wash basins!
- The warm and friendly staff. From the minute you arrive there is a ‘we will do whatever we can to help’ mentality.
- Breakfast. All the meals are fantastic here but the breakfast and brunch offering is fabulous. Kids will love the amazing array of food on offer with eggs cooked on the spot.
- Â The location. The beaches are immaculate, the gardens are beautiful and the up-close exotic flora and fauna is breathtaking. A boat trip to see sea turtles will never be forgotten.
This stretch of coastline is stunning.
The spa for a tranquil escape.
Water sports and boat rides are part of the everday schedule.
Relaxed eating on the beach.
The sleek and welcoming reception area. Guest are greeted with traditional iced tea.
All the restaurants serve incredible food. We loved Blue Ginger for stand-out sushi.
Our Accommodation
Junior stayed in a private villa with 3 x Double Bedrooms - perfect for families
We hadn’t ever thought about staying in a private villa within a hotel resort but now that we’ve experienced it for ourselves, it makes total sense – especially for families.
The luxury three bedroom villa we stayed in created the perfect family base-camp, providing plenty of space and privacy, our own pool to splash about in and room to spread out in the social spaces of the well appointed kitchen, lounge and private garden.
If you don’t fancy venturing out to one of the many restaurants in the resort, you can ask for in-villa catering. We had a wonderful, leisurely breakfast by the pool with omelettes, pancakes, fresh fruit!
With three spacious rooms, we could see a private villa working really well for a family with a nanny, a family with four children with the possibility of extra cots for babies and toddlers or even two couples with kids who could potentially share the cost.
Private villas have generous pools and plenty of outdoor space.
You can arrange for food to be cooked and served in your villa.
The accommodation is spacious and all on one level.
"I loved this resort, which has a sleek, classic vibe and feels super luxe without being stuffy. I visited the Kids' Club and was really impressed with the facilities and friendly atmosphere. It's really close to the gym and tennis courts, so you can easily drop the kids off while you go for a workout or have a game of padel."
