Oh we do like to be beside the seaside, but traditionally our British coastal staycations still remain limited to the sunshine season. Zoey Goto decided to shake up the holiday status quo by taking her two children, aged four and ten, to stay at the recently unveiled beach huts on Felpham Beach, for an all-weather minibreak.
A Family Visit to Beachcroft Beach Hut Suites
Check In
The Beachcroft Beach Hut Suites are a cluster of four gorgeous, maritime themed blue and white wooden cottages. They’re situated just across the path from the main Beachcroft Hotel on Felpham Beach, offering knockout coastal views. In all fairness, describing the accommodation as a beach hut is probably an understatement; a more accurate description might be a high-spec, luxury apartment.
Inside, there’s a mezzanine floor with a double bed, a separate kid’s bedroom with bunk beds, mini Smeg fridge and kettle, lounge with a Netflix-enabled smart TV, Nespresso coffee machine, walls decorated with cheerful vintage nautical prints and a little wooden deck at the front with seating. It’s all very stylish and the huts feel clean and fresh, having just been built last year. And the real selling point has to be the hut’s wall-to-wall patio windows, soaking up the uninterrupted sea views.
The huts can sleep up to two adults and two children, with a cot and high chair available without extra charge on request. This is also a good option for multi-gen groups or holidaying with another family, as neighbouring huts can be booked. Children are front-of-mind at the Beachcroft huts and our welcome pack included buckets and spades, mini fishing nets and a treasure hunt sheet for exploring the local area.

What to do for Families
The beauty of the Beachcroft Huts is that you can have a great staycation here without having to rely on decent weather. We really put this theory to the test, as our stay coincided with a ferocious storm, starring gale force winds and torrential rain! Thankfully, the under floor heating kept things nice and toasty and our hut felt like a snug cocoon, perfect for watching the drama of the seasons unfold outside. For rainy days, don’t forget your swimmers as there’s a sweet little indoor pool in the main hotel, which can be booked in advance for sole use. We all agreed that the huts would be perfect for a cosy Christmas stay (see below for special festive packages below).
If you do happen to be blessed with dry weather, the hotel offers free bike hire for exploring the seven-mile long coastal footpath and paddleboard hire is also included for guests staying in the huts. Beyond the hotel, Bogner Regis offers all the all the fun of a traditional English seaside resort with a pier, crazy golf, a mini railway, plus a decent play park on the beachfront. Pinks Ice Cream Lab is worth a visit to see their ice cream being freshly made onsite. Their unicorn ice cream served a rainbow cone, goes down a storm with little ones!
Alternatively, crank up the glam-factor with afternoon tea at Goodwood House, the stately home of the Duke and Duchess of Richmond, or nearby Beaulieu car museum has a new adventure play area for children, featuring wooden palaces, zip wires and climbing walls – perfect for letting off some steam.

The Food
While there’s no kitchen, the main Beachcroft Hotel is just next-door and services the huts. Breakfast is either a full English or continental, with cereal or porridge options for the kids, taken in the restaurant or delivered to the door of your hut. If the weather allows, there’s an alfresco picnic option for lunch, served in a beach-ready wicker basket.
Supper is served in the hotel’s Tamarisk Restaurant, where the kid’s menu features classics including fresh-from-the-sea fish, chips and ice cream, while adults can choose from the à la carte or the casual dining menu. The restaurant puts a big emphasis on keeping things hyper-local, with the majority of the ingredients coming from with a 20-mile radius.
