Lights, action, thunder and amazing animatronic dinosaurs! Jurassic World: The Experience is a must visit for any major dinosaur fans. Kids age three and up can attend but we’d say some little ones might be overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the very realistic and often very loud dinosaurs. You will know best if your child is dino-crazy enough to cope and we have to say, the three year olds in our group were completely unfazed!
You don’t have to have seen the film to enjoy this immersive experience, although the attention to detail is very impressive, as is the team of warm and friendly actors who bring the whole journey through the iconic Jurassic gates to life. The experience lasts around 45–60 minutes, and includes strobe lighting and sudden loud noises, so prepare for a thrilling journey!
1. The Realistic Moving Dinosaurs
These dinosaurs are not just ordinary dinosaurs. Made with incredible attention to detail, the jewels of the experience are the towering lizards, created to scale with realistic noises and movements. The new Brachiosaurus makes an impressive first spot as you enter the venue and serious dinosaur fans will love ticking off the fierce Velociraptors, an impressive Triceratops, more than one Parasaurolophus, a chunky looking Carnataurus and of course, that legendary predator, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. Let’s just hope they don’t escape their enclosures…
2. The Baby Dinosaurs
There are several opportunities throughout the experience to meet some rather cute newborn and toddler dinosaurs. The keepers, dressed in their Jurassic Park white coats and keeper outfits, invite kids to pet the moving baby dinosaurs snuggled up in their arms and there are newly hatched dinos that you can peer at through their incubator. All the children seemed pretty much in awe of these adorable hatchlings and the adults let out a few coos too.
3. The POO!
Apologies to the squeamish but we had to show this photograph, taken in situ in the Jurassic World lab. This is just one of the touch and feel domes full of super realistic dinosaur poo, where kids can put their hands though the gloves and prod poke and squish dino doo doos to their heart’s content. Bliss.
4. The Amazing Acting
The team of keepers, scientists and security guards who guide guests through the experience all deserve a raise. These paid actors never break character and really bring the whole experience to life, whether they’re welcoming you on board the ferry to Isla Nublar or introducing you to their newly hatched dinosaurs. We loved how warm, welcoming and friendly the whole team was.
5. The Interactive Exhibits
Budding Paleontologists will love the interactive elements of their journey through Jurassic World. Children can sweep the sands of time off dinosaur relics with special brushes, there’s a chance to sit in one of Jurassic Park’s famous gyrospheres – firmly planted on the gound, explore the famous creation lab, complete with touch screens and incubators and did we mention you can pet baby dinosaurs? Endless photo opportunities that everyone will love looking back on.
