At Junior we’re big fans of Bloom & Blossom. Nearly every child we know has a Roald Dahl Matilda Hair & Body Wash amongst their bath toys or a BFG Pillow Spray on their bedside table. And there are countless babies whose nightly bedtime routine is accompanied by The Hungry Caterpillar Collection. But, did you know that Bloom & Blossom initially started as a wellness brand for new mums?

Thinking about how we can help parents get a better bedtime routine, we caught up with Bloom & Blossom founders Julia Yule and Christina Moss – who as working mothers of 5 between them and sisters-in-law – know a thing or two about finding some calm in todays chaotic lifestyles. As the brand unveils its new look (and bumper sizes – so, much better for bigger families), a new collection of skin care and wellness products for parents and its new mission to help all families thrive by Living Well and Sleeping Beautifully we asked them for their top tips…

Over to you ladies...

“As working parents, there’s a distinct lack of sleep in our lives. We all know this and have to embrace this but in searching for some sort of balance we needed some tools to help us wind down in the evening, so we created our very own sleep ritual with our unique sleep fragrance.

As parents we are so thoughtful about putting a routine in place for your baby in those early months, so why not do it for yourself?

We could bore you with tips about rationing screen-time before bed and no drinking caffeine beyond 3pm. We do this of course, we all know that stimulating your brain before bed with the latest 9 tiles on Instagram, isn’t the best start of a good night’s sleep, but what we want to reiterate is that routine is key here. As parents we are so thoughtful about putting a routine in place for your baby in those early months, so why not do it for yourself?”

The Bloom & Blossom
3-Step Sleep Routine for PARENTS

1

Our routine includes a warm shower, a relaxing bath, or simply taking three deep breaths of our frankincense, ylang ylang and lemongrass combo before bed – and it really does set you up for the night. Try a warm shower using And Breathe…Relaxing Shower Oil, £20

2

Our unique sleep fragrance has got holistic, healing and soothing frankincense at the heart of it. But it’s not just frankincense on its own, it’s balanced with top notes of lavender and lemongrass with chamomile and rose geranium through the middle. Before slipping on you night clothes smooth this over damp skin Pyjamarama…Dry Body Oil, £20

3

So, once you have got that routine sorted, make sure all those other temptations – like your phone and laptop, are left downstairs. Invest in an alarm clock, not the one on your phone (no excuses allowed), and a pair of your comfiest pjs and you are really going to be ready for your bed. But, don’t forget to mist you pillows with this first All Night Long… Calming Sleep Spray, £15

And, then finish your routine, start the day right or, for those moments when a little bit of calm amongst the chaos is needed during the day, Bloom and Bloomhave introduced: Wonder Worker…Multi-tasking Balm, £12 and Lip Service…Nourishing Lip Balm £10.
