Winner:GOLD Best Family Hotel

Who:Sani Resort

What:Sani Resort, Kassandra, Greece

Why:

This world-class luxury holiday destination, featuring five award-winning hotels –
Sani Beach, Sani Club, Porto Sani, Sani Asterias and Sani Dunes was a favourite with our JDA judges who loved the beautiful beachside location in the heart of a 1000 acre nature reserve. With an amazing selection of activities and services for families with children of all ages on offer, including the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre, Chelsea Football Academy, Bear Grylls Survival Academy and a baby and children’s approved menu by Annabel Karmel no less. This resort doesn’t just provide entertainment, it gives children the opportunity to experience amazing adventures that they’ll remember forever.

Well-thought-out offerings for families on vacation including prams and cots, as well as white noise machines. The kids club with the special cuisine and activities is also an excellent addition. Very welcoming for families!

No detail is spared at Sani, from Stokke furniture, Annabel Karmel designed menus, incredible sensory toys at the creche to the staff that love kids. I’m particularly impressed with Sani’s innovation around eco projects - it’s a trailblazer for family resorts.

Jonathan Kirkby, founder of Instinct PR, @instinctpr

An incredibly tranquil, thoughtful and beautiful resort for families. There really is something for everyone here from tiny tots to teens and let’s not forget world class food and spa time for the grown-ups. Having been here on a work trip (I know, but someone has to do it!) I can honestly say I would return here year after year and never be tired of this tiny slice of holiday heaven.

My children are obsessed with the idea of going to Sani. I can now see why.

Winner:SILVER Best Family Hotel

Who:InterContinental

What:InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort

Why:

A trip to the Maldives is on every family’s bucket list and the InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort goes the extra white sand mile to make the experience magical for children of all ages. Our judges were in awe of this resort, which is located on the Southernmost tip of Raa Atoll, on the edge of a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve within its own natural lagoon. If the setting wasn’t magnificent enough, the resort boasts an exceptional kids’ club, resident chefs and manta ray encounters for nature lovers. The accommodation ranges from spacious apartments to exciting beach, lagoon and over-water villas for a holiday they’ll never forget.

Love that there are special programs for younger kids and teens, as well as experiences geared toward the whole family. So many options for enrichment and fun.

Jennifer Cattaui, founder of Babesta, New York, @babesta

This resort sounds like paradise! I particularly like the Planet Trekkers club - so fun and educational for kids. The beaches look blissful too. The kind of resort that ticks the boxes for both adults and children - well done!

Winner:BRONZE Best Family Hotel

Who:Windjammer Landing Resort and Residences

What:Windjammer Landing Resort and Residences, St Lucia

Why:

The beautiful resort situated on a 65-acre hillside estate on the northside of St Lucia, had our panel dreaming of a tropical island getaway. With a collection of villas, private residences and spacious hotel rooms overlooking the Caribbean Sea, kids and grownups are given plenty of ocean-focused activities to choose from as well as children’s cooking classes and creole dance classes. After all that excitement, the hotel’s new turndown service with warm milk and cookies and bedtime stories should go down a treat.

Loved the details - children’s cooking and dance class offerings, as well as great add-ons like evening milk and cookies.

Jennifer Cattaui, founder of Babesta, New York, @babesta

A fabulous, family-focused hotel that provides kids with plenty of exciting activities and a taste of the local culture.

This looks fabulous. The kids’ club sounds great and I like the fact that excursions can be planned for the whole family to do together.
