Winner:GOLD - Best Car Seat Design
Who:Multimac
What:Multi-child car seat
Why:
If you have more than two children who all need carseats, you’ll know how frustrating the backseat Jenga can be. Separate journeys or buying a bigger car have been the only solutions – up to now! Fortunately, Kevin Macliver has invented the Multimac, an extremely clever multi-carseat system that lets up to four children age 0–12+ travel safely and comfortably in almost any car. Made in Britain and approved to the latest R129 safety standards, the JDA panel was hugely impressed with its patented fitting system and interchangeable seats, which grow with and adapts with your family, accommodating babies, toddlers and even tweens. Built to last with top-quality craftsmanship and optional leather finishes – we loved the brown leather – or personalised headrests, it makes travelling with a big family so much easier and lots of fun.
Really well finished and I love that you can pick colours to match your car interior finishes... A complete step away from the traditional approach, I'm not sure if this product has any competition really, I have certainly not seen anything like it on the market.
Multimac is a revolutionary leap forward in child transport—offering safety, sustainability, and space-saving freedom for modern family life.
The Multimac was a showstopper at the Junior Design Awards. Not only for its impressive size and cool design but because we could all see how this multi-seat carseat would make life SO much easier for families or carers with lots of children!
Lots of children? No need to buy a bigger car, this brilliant car seat means you can easily fit a module of three or even four safety-tested carseats side by side on your backseat.

Who:Axkid
What:Axkid UP High-Back Booster
Why:
Our judges were super impressed by Axkid’s innovation in carseat design and were excited to learn that their new UP model, is the world’s first high-back booster with a raisable seat, designed for kids aged 4–12. The added safety of lifting your child to a height that works with your car’s own safety systems—like airbags and pretensioners— was clear to see. Stats that show children seated in properly adjusted car seats are up to 60% less likely to suffer severe injury during a collision, really resonated with the JDA panel who praised this design for its clever ProTecBase steel frame that helps cut crash forces by up to 25% and clever height control that keeps belts perfectly positioned as your children grow. Comfortable, super easy to install and remove and easy to store when folded down, the Axkid Up was a big success all round.
Axkid Up doesn’t just raise your child—it raises the standard for safety, innovation, and peace of mind on every journey.
This seat fills an overlooked gap in the market for booster chairs that make older kids feel secure, supported and able to see out.
I'm often worried about my older children falling asleep in the car without the security of head rest wings and the cocooning chair sides they used to enjoy when they were little. This booster seat will give little heads something to lean against on long journeys and will reassure grown-ups that their children are safe, secure and positioned for optimum safety.

Who:BeSafe
What:BeSafe Beyond + Beyond Base rear-facing rotating car seat
Why:
If you dread the thought of giving up the safety of your rear-facing carseat as your child gets older, or you’re new to parenting, this is a great carseat choice for you. The Junior Design Awards judges were excited to learn that BeSafe has designed the world’s first extended rear-facing rotating car seat, keeping little ones safe from 6 months to 6 years. Built with Dynamic Force Absorberâ„¢, SIP+ side-impact protection, and a highly protective headrest, the BeSafe Beyond is five times safer than forward-facing seats. Our judges were impressed with its clever rotation and recline motions that mean maximum flexibility for kids and less stretching and straining for parents. Built to last up to 15 years, its modular design also means less waste—proof that safety and sustainability can go hand in hand.
Setting a new standard in car seat safety, longevity, and real-world practicality, BeSafe Beyond is not just built to protect—it’s built to last, adapt, and lead.
Rear-facing carseat are safer, so the fact that this extends that chapter for longer is brilliant.
So many great details that make family life so much easier. I really like the one-hand recline adjustment and harness magnets making it much easier to buckle up.
