Winner:JOINT GOLD - Best Toddler Carrier/Sling Design

Who:Wildride

What:Wildride Toddler Carrier for 9 months to approximately 4 years

Why:

This cleverly designed, diagonally worn sling was super popular with our judges who loved how super lightweight and easy to stow away it is. That you can easily carry this sling in your handbag when it’s not in use was seen as a huge benefit. The range of fabrics on offer means there is a design for every taste and the cross-body strap felt secure and easy to fasten. Perfect for travelling with and keeping in your bag, ready to pull out when little legs get tired.

This is such a great sling. Love the simple construction and the wide range of fabrics on offer.

A saviour product, hugely helpful - I didn't realise there were handy carriers in this style post the small baby phase, and my toddler is having a phase currently of hating and refusing her pushchair, so this saves my back and arms.

Winner:JOINT GOLD - Best Toddler Carrier/Sling Design

Who:MiniMeis

What:MiniMeis G5 Carrier for 6 months to 4 years

Why:

Who doesn’t love a shoulder ride?! Designed for comfort, safety and style, the MiniMeis G5 shoulder carrier is a major piggy back upgrade giving little ones a bird’s eye view of the world, while taking it easy on parent’s necks and backs. Our judges were intrigued by the clever arch design of the frame, which redistributes weight away from the neck, reducing strain and increasing stamina on long walks. Super lightweight and easy to fold down to a compact  30x30cm, this carrier is perfect for long walks and hearty adventures.

At just 1.6kg, this is the lightest framed carrier I’ve ever come across. I love the way it enables kids to anchor their feet over their parent’s shoulders giving them the reassurance of physical contact during long journeys.

Winner:SILVER - Best Toddler Carrier/Sling Design

Who:Hippychick

What:Hippychick Hipseat 6 months to 3 years

Why:

This clever hip seat was invented over 25 years ago and is still taking the strain off parents today! Reducing back pain and keeping adult’s hands free when their toddler or young child really needs to be cuddled or carried, the Hipseat makes life’s balancing act so much easier. Our judges could see that this carrier was easy to fasten and that the Velcro grips were super secure making this a doddle to pop on quickly at a moment’s notice. Once the sling is on, kids can hop-on, hop-off the padded non-slip seat, making it great for days out when buggies are too bulky. Its wide supportive waistband distributes weight evenly across the hips keeping backs straight and supported. Brilliant.

Winner:BRONZE - Best Toddler Carrier/Sling Design

Who:Izmi

What:Izmi Breeze Adventure Carrier 1–6 years

Why:

This sling is perfect for families with children who love to snuggle. Recognising that 3-year-olds don’t carry like 3-month-olds, there are lots of clever details that make this sling a great choice for carrying older kids on either your back, front or side. Our judges loved this versatility and could see that children would feel really secure in this carrier that has a generous seat and mesh panel for keeping cool while working hard to keep parents comfortable too. The JDA panel could see that this carrier would be super helpful for families with disabled children, offering good head and torso support without being heavy or bulky.

There are so many times when a young child runs out of steam and just needs to be held and carried. This carrier means you can say yes to that piggy back or side carry without straining your back.

Bonita Turner, Editor, Junior

Keeping your children close is something I’ve always prioritised especially in crowds. This carrier enables parents to carry their kids safely and without straining their backs up to a grand 6 years of age. Would definitely buy this.
