Futuroscope and Aquascope, France: Two themeparks, double the memories!

The words ‘Again! Again!’ echoed through our ears as the kids exited Mission Bermudes (the world’s first water roller coaster) at the Parc du Futuroscope as they headed back round to rejoin the queue! This science-meets-thrills theme park in Chasseneuil-du-Poitou, France has a great mix of thrilling rides including roller coasters and 3D experiences with incredible special effects – not to mention the huge indoor waterpark, Aquascope next door!

How to get there

The themeparks are super easy to get to. The nearest airport is Poitier,  just an hour’s flight from Stanstead with Ryanair and then a 15 minute taxi ride from the airport.

Alternatively, you can take the Eurostar to Paris and transfer onto the TGV direct to Futuroscope train station – total journey time 5-6 hours including transfers.

There are several other airports within easy reach, including La Rochelle, Tours, Angers, Limoges, Bergerac, Bordeaux and Nantes. These airports are served by Air France, Easyjet, British Airways and Ryanair.

Where to stay

Junior stayed at the Ecolodgee, just a short walk from the park entrance. Inspired by nature, the lodges are a haven away from the hustle and bustle of the park and the perfect place to unwind after a fun-filled day at the parks. Breakfast arrives in a hamper at your door so that you can enjoy your croissant and coffee on the gorgeous terrace overlooking the lake.

Stay for 2 nights at the Ecolodgee from €841 per family four (2 adults and 2 children under 12). The price includes 2 nights at Ecolodgee on a B&B basis, 2 day tickets to Futuroscope and tickets to Aquascope.

Prices based on a September stay.

Where to eat

To say the food is good at Futuroscope is an understatement! Our standout meals were at King Arthur’s Table and Space Loop. The buffet at King Arthur’s table was plentiful and fresh with a desert table that will have you salivating! The Space Loop Restaurant is not like any other restaurant we’ve ever been to. Order your meal at the table on a tablet and watch as it spins through the air and gets delivered to your table via an indoor rollercoaster system. Not only are the kids enthralled, the food is really tasty, which isn’t always the case at a themepark!

What’s so special about Aquascope?

Where do we start! This multi award winning waterpark is 6000 square meters, featuring 8 slides, an outdoor pool, cinema room and kids area. It provides hours of immersive and sensorial fun, which will entertain the whole family. The only issue is that the kids won’t want to leave!
