Winner:GOLD - Best Toy Brand

Who:Tender Leaf Toys

What:A thoughtfully designed sustainably made wooden toy brand

Why:

There was so much love in the JDA judging room for Tender Leaf Toys who showcased their beautiful brand with the stand out Laundrette and a whole range of handcrafted wooden toys. The judges crowded round this incredibly detailed, small-scale washing machine, complete with drying rack and flip out ironing board and couldn’t resist playing with it themselves. The panel agreed that Tender Leaf created toys that are built to be loved by both children and their parents, blending seamlessly into modern homes and adding charm and creativity to every play space.

Just beautiful. You can feel the joy that goes into making these wooden toys that will take pride of place in any nursery or play space.

What a gorgeous toy brand. Aesthetic for parents but colourful and imaginative for children!

Great attention to detail in both product and sustainability. So much variety and all made from reclaimed rubber wood with a replanting scheme. Everything from the packaging to the product finishes feels carefully considered.

Who:Toys From The Woods

What:Wooden Pull Train

Why:

These beautiful wooden toys were a big hit with our judges who could see how much thought and incredible craftsmanship had gone into their making. Handcrafted from sustainably sourced wood and finished with child-safe, non-toxic oils, the Wooden Pull Train is stunning piece of art that children will want to play with and parents will want to display. The panel felt that this toy was a brilliant example of a contemporary heirloom toy that would make a perfect first birthday or baby shower gift.

A charming, values-led brand offering beautifully made wooden toys that promote calm, purposeful play. Thoughtfully designed with sustainability and child development at its core, this is a refreshing return to timeless, meaningful play. “

I absolutely love this brand. The train really is a work of art in beautiful caramel hues of natural wood. Children will love playing with this and it will be handed down through generations.

Winner:BRONZE - Best Toy Brand

Who:MAGNA-TILES

What:Dual-sided magnetic tiles

Why:

Inspiring children to imagine, create, and learn through hands-on play for over 30 years. Our judges could see that these dual-sided magnetic tiles would make building easy, exciting and frustration-free, boosting perseverance, confidence, and creativity. Simple to put together, they are accessible for younger children, while highly satisfying for older children who want to build complex structures at pace. The panel felt these tiles would have a long shelf life in the games cupboard and would help support STEAM learning, spatial reasoning, motor skills, collaborative play and more.

This brand is absolutely amazing! My 2 year old loves it as much as my 4 year old. It’s been so amazing for their gross motor skills and imagination!

Ashley James, Broadcaster & Author @ashleylouisejames

We have tried a few other brands of magnetic toys but nothing compares to Magna-Tiles. Great for open ended play and super durable!! Our best friend’s set has been going (and growing!) for 15 years with constant use of four boys! We have started growing our own collection!

Bridget Mackinnon, Content Creator @bridget.mackinnon

My boys have loved playing with these from such a young age and they continue to evolve with them. They really are the toy that keeps on giving.
