Finally we can reveal these are the winning books from the JDA24 that are suitable for pre-schoolers and young readers

This gorgeous, train shaped, lift the flap, concertina book, has real spinning wheels to push along the floor, adding a whole new, fun dimension to learning to count. There is clever rhyming text and a counting game on the reverse. It really has it all and our judges could see it becoming a learning to count classic!

Why:

A heartwarming and humorous modern-day fable. Fantastic illustrations and charming animal characters. Our panel loved how this adventure story explored the ideas of keeping promises, family love and also staying true to yourself.

What:Rainbowsaurus by Steve Antony

Why:

A joyful and fun story of a family’s quest to find the Rainbowsaurus, and the many
colourful creatures they meet along the way. The panel found the vibrant colours and illustrations so appealing and loved the beautifully written and inclusive story with a lovely repeating rhyme and fun animal noises. This is another instant classic which children will love and join in with from the start.
