It’s said in Jersey you are never more than 10 minutes form the beach – and the coastal personality changes form north to south on this beautiful island. Whether you want to slip off your shoes, unwind and clear your mind, swim in crystal clear waters on a secluded pebble beach or, hit the waves, take a surf lesson and exhaust the kids before bed – there is beach to suit your mood in Jersey.

1. St. Brelades Bay

Regularly voted the most popular beach on the island – and, one of the best in the UK. St. Brelade’s Bay offers possibly one of the best views in Jersey. With water sports, beach cafes and hotels overlooking the beach this is a popular – and busy spot. This large sandy bay offers safe swimming and family activities like banana boats, canoe hire, paddle boarding and kayaking.

2. Plémont

Located on the North coast this is one of the island most picturesque beach with magical caves, glistening rock pools, soft sands – a must-see cove that offers the perfect escape.

3. St. Ouen's Bay

This is Jersey’s premier surfing spot with a beautiful 5-Mile stretch of sands and sea. With the nearby Splash Surf Centre at The Watersplash (restaurant, surf school, bar and nightclub) offers lessons for all ages and levels. Be sure to try Faulkner Fisheries, a restaurant based in an old WW11 bunker that serves up fresh barbecued fish and seafood, Jersey Royal potatoes, chips and out-of-this-world Jersey Butter garlic bread.

4. Portelet

A south-facing, sheltered bay with soft golden sands and a small island in its centre. Great safe swimming spot for children and home of the excellent Portelet Bay Beach Café – accessible by steps down (and a little effort back up!)

5. St. Aubin's Bay

Stretching from St. Helier to the harbour at St. Aubin’s this is a popular beach for waterspouts including waterskiing and jet ski hire. With beautiful soft sands its ideal for small children.
