With the last halcyon days of summer well and truly behind us and the jingle bells of Christmas still a mere twinkle in Rudolph's eyes, Autumn can sometimes feel like a stop-gap season with neither warming sunshine nor pretty snowfall in its climatic favour.

Although warm-ish, windy, showery days can wreak havoc with the best-laid weekend (not to mention sartorial) plans, the unpredictability of this season is ripe with possibility for environmental activities.
