What is your name and job title?
Rob Woiwod, owner, founder and everything else in-between.
Can you tell us a little about your boutique, and why you think it is award winning?
We are small family run store, set up in the summer of 2012. We are based in lovely Brighton, but our customer base is spread worldwide. Our aim is to make every one of our awesome customers smile when they open a package from us – no mater if they’ve spent £5 or £500.
What distinguishes it from the plethora of independent boutiques?
We hope the way we curate our collection will always surprise you, we don’t look at what other stores are selling, or what the latest must-have item might be. We concentrate on what we actually like, what makes us laugh, what makes us swoon, what makes us impressed and mainly what makes us want to take it home with us and give it a little cuddle.
We are a kids store, and don’t take ourselves too seriously I guess. There is an underlying humour and playfulness in everything we do and say. We’ve tried to create a store with it’s own barmy personality!
Why do you think it is important to support and grown independent boutiques?
Good Independent stores give you a level of customer service you simply cant find elsewhere. In turn they are often supporting smaller designers and labels, often just starting out, and it is maybe the only way these fresh ideas can get a wider audience above all the chitter chatter. Also, supporting independent boutiques makes you a happy person.
How can you help parents achieve a balance between practicality and beautiful design?
The importance of a good boutique is that they’ve (hopefully) done the hard graft for you. Yes, we all need good plates, bed covers and lights – but boy, can they also be great looking things that bring you joy in their own right.
How do you select and make an edit of the products you sell?
We look, look and look again. Every day.
What is the parenting product you wish you had designed?
Everything we sell. Today it is our origami lampshades, but last week it was Plus-Plus building blocks. Ask me next week and it will be something else……
