Why the Costa del Sol?

This iconic coastline remains a hotspot for family getaways – and it’s not hard to see why – with 320+ days of annual sunshine, 150km of sun-kissed coastline views, and unrivalled warm golden sands, this Spanish region offers a guaranteed sunny holiday for those in need of a break.

As a family magazine, we know how precious time away is – especially when juggling the school diaries, varying needs and moods of everyone in the family. The modern family holiday is no longer a one-size-fits-all. Add toddlers, teens and maybe grandparents into the mix, and you might start thinking you need a holiday on your own! We’re joking, of course – it is definitely possible to have a relaxed holiday and come home still liking each other!

We headed to Ramada Hotel & Suites Costa del Sol to see how this vast resort is quietly mastering the art of multi-generational getaways. It’s the kind of place where grandparents can relax on sea-view terraces, parents can switch off, and kids can disappear into their own world of play. Here, togetherness doesn’t mean compromise – it means family moments you’ll want to post on Instagram, personal space for everyone, and the simple luxury of time well spent together. Here are just a few reasons why Ramada Hotel & Suites Costa del Sol works for all the family…

GOOD TO KNOW: Ramada Hotel & Suites Costa del Sol is a 30-minute drive or taxi ride from Malaga Airport.

A 'home-abroad' that works for the whole family

At the heart of its appeal is a modern approach to accommodation. Forget cramped hotel rooms and rigid schedules – here, self-catering apartments provide choice. Fully equipped kitchens, generous living spaces and private balconies create a space that feels entirely your own. Early risers or new parents can enjoy breakfast on the terrace, while evenings can unfold at a slower pace around a shared table with a freshly cooked meal or takeaway. You can also dine out at one of the resort’s lively restaurants.

The accommodation itself is thoughtfully laid out – with plenty of space to spread out. Classic apartments place families close to focal areas of the resort – ideal for those who want to be near pools, restaurants and the beach. Superior and Superior Plus options offer more space and elevated views, perfect for larger family groups. Meanwhile, Premium apartments, tucked into a more tranquil enclave, deliver a residential feel that’s particularly suited to grandparents or those craving a little extra calm.

Dining without Drama: Food to please all

Family mealtime on holidays should be casual and flexible – and that’s where the beauty of the self-catering and/or dining out options come in. With a collection of restaurants, casual eateries and grab-and-go options just moments away, families can choose to cook or not. There is a small on-site (and surprising well-stocked) grocery store for fresh ingredients, essentials and refreshments.

For dining out on-site favourites include:

  • Zac’s Restaurant & Bar – for laid-back meals and snacks
  • The Flying Pizza – for easy, child-approved dining, and they also do delivery to your room.
  • Sam’s Pantry – for grab-and-go treats like coffees, freshly baked pastries and loaded sandwiches. They also sell a few groceries, gifts and offer a well stocked fridge of local wines, beers and soft drinks.
  • Safari – set within Wyndham Grand Costa del Sol hotel you can have a special family meal in its rainforest-inspired interior and terrace. Great cocktails also.

Activities that suit everyone's pace

When you’re on holiday, your routine goes out the window – you get to decide how much (or how little) you want to do each day. With a mix of ages, fitness levels and energy levels, finding something everyone enjoys can be tricky.

At Ramada Hotel & Suites Costa del Sol, it couldn’t be easier. You can spend lazy days by palm-lined pools and landscaped gardens, or let younger guests enjoy the dedicated kids’ pools and activity areas. Tweens and teens have their own space in the reception area with games, fun activities and arcade machines, while wellness-focused travellers can hit the fitness centre, tennis courts, or indulge in a spa session (at Wyndham Costa del Sol resort).

A complimentary resort train makes navigating the vast grounds effortless, whether little legs or grandparents need some help on the move. Hop on to get to the bottom of the resort to reach the beach just across the road, to make those restaurant bookings or to lighten the load after stocking up in the mini-market.
