Bubble childrenswear tradeshow report: Autumn/Winter 2013

Junior bring you the latest trends and happenings from Bubble London, the UK's biggest childrenswear trade fair

Bubble London Autumn/Winter 2013-14

Junior reports from Bubble, the London childrenswear tradeshow, to bring you the latest news about the hottest trends for Winter 2013. It was a busy fair and we spotted lots of exciting things in store for next season.

As it is a winter season, it wasn’t unusual to see a fair amount of Fair Isle prints on the stands. A set that particularly caught our eye was at No Added Sugar. Adorable knitted babywear presented in traditional shades of blue and pink, were given the No Added Sugar twist with a bespoke Fair Isle print made of the brand’s logo bunny ears and crossbones.

We also have to mention the sweet cable knit leggings at No Added Sugar for baby. A little bit retro and so cosy looking!

Blue, teal and mustard yellow were popular shades for the season, something we had already noticed at Pitti Bimbo and Kleine Fabriek. Fun label, Beau Loves, showed a fantastic collection of monochrome Harlequin-style prints alongside mustard colourways, owl prints and feathered shouldered jumpers. We were excited to hear the label is launching a bedding collection.

We spotted tartan checks on a few stands including Jessie & James, a label which was Highly Commended in the 2012 Junior Design Awards. The styling of the winter collection is just as chic and fresh – we are coming to expect fabulous silhouettes and interesting detailing from the design duo that hail from the design studios of Vivienne Westwood.

Newcomer and brilliantly British label, Rock ‘n’ Regal, also displayed a striking tartan check dress alongside smart military style tweed coats for boys, dresses and coats with big bow detail for girls.

Our favourite at Rock ‘n’ Regal was a green parka with furry trim hood and lovely big bow on the front. Designer, Melanie, showed us some pretty Chanel-style box jackets, a trend for which we had also noticed at Kleine Fabriek.

We had spotted a few heart prints at Pitti Bimbo, but not too many were seen at Bubble. Except a gorgeous heart print knitted baby grow, in grey and red colourways, at Little Duckling. Designer, Rosa, also showed us a set of three felt play balls, each with a face design – simple but so effective. We all wanted a set of our own!

Some really wild leopard print leather boots were spotted at the Junior Design Award winning label, Angulus. A great way to add a splash of style to any outfit.

Mustard, brown and green tones at Fub gave a nod towards a seventies inspired style.

The 2012 Junior Design Award winning I Love Gorgeous showed another bright and beautiful collection, with an interesting geo-print over dresses as well as the ever-popular glittery dresses and playsuits. We loved the bright blue colour, new for the season and the Teddy Boy style coat.

We shouldn’t play favourites, but new label Belle Enfant won us over with its delicate, soft colour palette, silky blouses and sweet leggings.

Also spotted at Bubble London… * Block colour cardigans * Peter pan collars * Block stripes * Soft baby colours * Teal knits for boys * Graphic tees with a few neon splashes * Soft woolly cape at Their Nibs * Royal baby dolly dress up outfits at Rachel Riley * Tiny outfits for premature babies at Teddy & Me* Oodles of tutus at Tutu du Monde and Mischka Akoi * Aztec-inspired Fair Isle prints at Tootsa MacGinty
