Junior visited the new British contingency of childrens fashion labels that have formed Brilliant Little Britain and show collections at the same time as Pitti Bimbo in Florence.
If the customer doesn't come to you, go to them. Such is the thinking behind the new initiative by Gareth from Bonnie Babywho has organised a group of like-minded Brits into Brilliant Little Britain - a mini exhibition in the foyer at the Hotel Roma in Florence while the Pitti Bimbo trade fair was in progress.
Beside Bonnie Baby were Hucklebones and Indikidual, both smallindependent British labels who might get lost in the vast halls at thePitti exhibition but had the space here to present their collections in style.
Hucklebones showed their retro inspired signature style with new brocade and patterned textural fabrics, metallic pastel hues in pleating and loosesleeveless tops, and an expanded baby range replicating the same fabricsas the children's range. A new swan print has a sophisticated fairytale feel to baby tops and pants and little girl dresses.
Bonnie Baby have returned to their original rainbow striped cashmereknitwear produced in updated shapes such as a cape jacket to add to theircashmere classics line and have added new patterns with a diamond checkin sorbet brights mixed with grey for cardigans, sweater dresses, hats, scarves and blankets.
A new graphic print is used on padded snowsuits which seem more and more suitable for the UK given the recent weather here.
Indikidual presented a dark toned collection with a quirky sensibility honed by designer Syreeta Johnson's high fashion background as a buyer for Topshop. Her version of monochrome dressing has a bold Domino print for easy fit dresses with either a black or white background. A funky bananna print is used for pyjama sets and T-shirts and the collection is spiced up with vibrant orange and yellow throughout.
