Villa Hislop

Crete, Greece

When: Summer through to Autumn
Ideal for: Large Family Groups and Friends

Villa Hislop is a WOW property. When Junior visited this stunning, ultra contemporary home, designed to blend beautifully into its rustic Cretan surroundings, we were completely blown away. With super stylish and comfortable interiors and every mod con you can think of  – indoor cinema: check, hammam: check, two hot tubs: check – this villa boasts large outdoor spaces that are perfect for laidback socialising, alongside a stunning horizon pool that edges the most dazzling, azure blue ocean view. We’re pretty sure every member of the family will be squealing on arrival here – we definitely were!

Practically Perfect
The luxurious and practical touches that make family life so easy and relaxed here...

  1. There’s a large shaded carport for multiple hire cars.
  2. The villa boasts 10 stylish bedrooms and can sleep 20 guests.
  3. Every bedroom has a luxury ensuite bathroom.
  4. There is a lift that can carry heavy luggage up and down the stairs. This is also perfect for any guests with limited mobility.
  5. There are plenty of activities for kids. Table tennis, swimming, play equipment and an indoor screening room will keep them entertained.
  6. Cooking facilities are excellent. As well as an indoor kitchen, there is an outdoor kitchen for alfresco cooking and eating.
  7. The pool can be gated on request so that little children can’t get in without adult supervision.
  8.  Access to the beach is a short walk away.
  9.  The local town of Plaka is also within walking distance and has plenty of fabulous family friendly restaurants and gift shops.
  10.  There are plenty of local boat trips and excursions for island swims, visits to neighbouring islands and learning about the local history and culture

Junior's Holiday Snaps

"We had the best time here. We couldn't recommend this villa more for a multigenerational stay or trip with a big group of friends. The villa is so comfortable and well equipped and there is so much to do just a stone's throw away. The island views are sensational."

What we Loved about this Villa

The spacious airy bedrooms  – most with sea views – will make everyone feel at home here but the aspect of this house we loved the most was its beautiful outdoor spaces with plenty of room for groups to gather and relax. Huge wooden dining tables for outdoor meals, lovely cosy seating areas for evening chats and lots of sun loungers for soaking up the views, make this place feel perfect for larger groups with zero chance of anyone feeling cramped.

The direct view of Spinalonga island from the villa is mesmerising and its history is fascinating. Grown-ups might want to pack a copy of The Island  by Victoria Hislop for the full low-down. We particularly enjoyed a boat ride to the island, walks down to the local beach and lazy meals by the sea in the pretty village of Plaka. Villa Hislop is a great base for everyone to do their thing. Lounging by the pool, shopping, gym sessions, playing, cultural excursions and heading off on hilly hikes are all for the taking.
