Behind The Scenes: The Junior Design Awards 2022
We're still revelling in the memories of our fabulous JDA judging days, which bring together an amazing collection of exciting brands and our brilliant expert panel. Here's a little peek at what we get up to when the judging commences...
The Junior Design Awards Judging days are a culmination of months of hard work and planning, not least from the brands who carefully package up their very best wares and send them off to our London based HQ! Our editorial team, logistics team, marketing team and brilliant in-house assembly team (they build all the more complex toys and cots!) all work together to un-package and display hundreds of beautiful products from the world of children's design for a three day judging process, which is divided up between a wide ranging selection of expert and influencer judges, hand-picked by us.
The judging is taken very seriously and all the points are all totted up on our online JDA platform with the judges' notes forming a huge part of the process. Buyers, design experts, parents, stylists and travel writers are just some of the experts we have on board, combined with our own in-house baby and child experts from across Junior and our sister company Made for Mums. Together we have the huge responsibility of deciding who gets a Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze JDA, or even a highly commended award if the standard is particularly high. We do manage to have some fun on the days of course and we hope this behind the scenes diary will give you a good indication of what goes on while we're all deliberating, cogitating and digesting (brownies and cakes included). We only wish we could invite everyone along!
