Meribel with VIP Ski
Looking at my daughter Molly’s flushed cheeks and bright sparkly eyes as she raced past me on the slopes of Meribel, the realization dawned that this really was a no-compromise family holiday. My husband, Molly and I were all doing something we loved, and doing it together. Does it get any better than that?
I was 18 before I learnt to ski, and my only "real" lessons were on a hill covered in hessian matting on the outskirts of High Wycombe. My daughter has skied every year since her third birthday, has had the best tuition on offer, and already, at six, shows me up in every respect of the sport. Pride? Humiliation? I tend to waver between the two.
As a family ski resort Meribel, situated snugly between Courcheval and Val Thorens in the Trois Vallees region of France, really does have something for everyone. With over 600km of pistes across the region, you can easily find runs to suit every member of the family, whatever their standard. Furthermore, the family après ski is superb with the Meribel Olympic sports centre offering swimming (complete with slides and tubes), ten-pin bowling, ice-skating and a climbing wall.
