Teenage Kicks: The Underage Festival at Victoria Park

THE FESTIVAL SEASON is well and truly upon us. You may have got your rocks off with Primal Scream at Camp Bestival while your kids enjoyed the delights of The Zingzillas (who've been doing the rock circuit from Legoland and Glastonbury to this weekend's Lollibop at London's Regent's Park), but there will come a time in the not-too-distant future when your child tells you it's time to go your own way (though they probably won't sing it in Fleetwood-Mac style). And if your young teens are making their first foray into the festival scene without a parent or guardian, there's no better place to do so than the one-day Underage Festival at Victoria Park, London E2.

Taking place Friday 5 August, Underage Festival will host 10,000 teenagers with a load of rock n’ roll bands and not a parent in sight! For many, this may send alarm bells ringing, but worry not. Underage Festival works directly with the local Police and Tower Hamlets to ensure teenagers have a great time and are completely safe. Plus, unlike all those parents who tend to hang out at the Pimms' tent at festivals, this is also a strictly no-alcohol affair! This year's line-up includes Bombay Bicycle Club and features Glastonbury’s stand-out performer Janelle Monae, comedy and music sensations The Midnight Beast, mixtape king Giggs, the colourful pop song’s of CocknBullKid, the UK’s next urban super star, Labrinth as well as all the key names on the teen scene.
