The grand dame of London's icy attractions SKATE at Somerset house has become a beloved staple of the capitals winter season. Somerset House’s spectacular courtyard is transformed into a glorious festive destination with its show stopping 40ft Christmas tree, unrivalled skating, contemporary music and tasty food and drink. One of London’s longest-running seasonal ice rinks, this icy oasis in the centre of London’s second business district, Canary Wharf’s winter rink is as shiny, slick and modern as the skyscrapers which surround it. The 1275 square-meter arena is open for 18 whole weeks meaning you can extend those winter experiences into the new year. Plus, there is no chance of rain-cancelling play with it magnificent roof, lit up by the shimmering lights of our giant mirror ball. For spectators, head to The Grandstand Bar, with a rink-side location boasting the best views.

With the UK’s largest open-air ice rink, set under a picturesque canopy of twinkly lights and built around Hyde Park’s iconic Victorian bandstand, it's the perfect day to kick off your day. Visit the Magical Lodge perched high above the ice rink, here you’ll have breath-taking views to watch the skaters glide across the ice, whilst you sit under the cosy blankets and heaters. Other attractions include rides, a Bavarian village offering warming winter eats and a chance to meet Santa Claus himself in Santaland and so much more.

Although you can skate here all year round the Festive Skating at Ally Pally is a highlight. During the festive skating dates you can glide around a huge Christmas tree, under falling snow, all while listening to your favourite Christmas tunes. The Palace first opened on 24 May 1873, so 2023 will be extra special as its celebrating its 150th anniversary so expect lots of activities and special events.

Possibly the coolest ice rink in London, Glide is set against the backdrop of one of London’s most iconic buildings and offers unrivalled views of the Thames as you skate around three interconnecting rinks surrounded by twinkling lights and a spectacular 30ft Christmas tree. Battersea Power Station is also home to over 120 shops, bars, cafes, entertainment venues and restaurants making it the ideal place to make a day of it with all the family.

Still grandiose in the extreme but now mercifully free of decapitation-happy tyrants, the outdoor rink at Henry VIII’s historic home at Hampton Court is a spectacular skating setting fit for any little prince or princess. As you gracefully glide this outdoor rink you'll take magnificent views of this beautiful Tudor palace and afterwards can stop for a festive refreshment in the onsite cafe and bar.
