A very important date...
Unless you have had your head stuck down a rabbit hole, you will no doubt have heard that Alice's Adventures Underground is the most anticipated London theatre performance of 2015. This year is the 150th Anniversary of the publication of Alice's Adventure's in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll - what better reason to celebrate the ultimate tale of fantasy? We had heard rumblings of this hotly anticipated show last year, presented by innovative theatre group Les Enfants Terribles, and, sure enough, most of the tickets have already sold out.
But families, fear not, in it's successful wake will follow another fantastical new production: Adventures in Wonderland, a theatre production for children aged five years and up, presented by the children's division of Les Enfants Terribles, Les Petits Theatre Company, and Emma Brünjes, in association with Creature of London. Although it shares the same set as the adult version, the children's production has it's own script and a separate acclaimed director, Emma Earle, who is fresh from a sell-out performance of Father Christmas at the Lyric, Hammersmith.
The gloriously surreal world of Alice and the creatures she meets along the way are brought to life in a multicoloured spectacle of a show, via mechanical and artistic techniques as well as convincing, immersive performances.
Guests of both Alice's Adventures Underground and Adventures in Wonderland, are given the same choice as they enter the performance: EAT ME or DRINK ME. A series of further questions along every guests interactive journey through the production means that every experience is as unique as it is exciting. But we can almost guarantee a Cheshire cat, a sleepy dormouse, a wild Mad Hatter, painted red roses and dodos aplenty.
The fun doesn't stop after guests have been guided through the live performance. The show culminates in a tea party, with room from around 60 people. but, as with everything in Wonderland, this feast is moveable and you won't be sitting down for long!
The Vaults beneath Waterloo Station provide the perfectly curious setting for a production of Lewis Carroll's classic tale of intrigue.
”There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A land full of Wonder, Mystery and Danger” Lewis Carroll, 1865
