Young Versace Spring/Summer 2013 report

Junior reports direct from the Young Versace SS13 presentation in Florence, part of Pitti Bimbo 75

A grand courtyard, a sweeping marble staircase decked out with red carpet and a sunset lit terrace with stunning views of the Ponte Vecchio. The perfect setting for the second spring summer collection from Young Versace.

Fans of the ultimate Italian fashion house are, once again, sure to love the mini versions of the eponymous label. The champagne flowed as we wandered around the presentation room which had been decked out as a stylish beach complete with poolside neon bar.

The first set of looks were decorated with a typically fancy lilac and yellow print. Starfish designs decorate a two piece casual suit, hooded zip up jumper, shorts and tops. The print also appears in lilac and turquoise and white and lilac over pretty sundresses teamed with lilac and metallic sandal. A gorgeous cream trench coat with epaulettes and gold button detail provides a stylish solution for spring days and summer evenings.

The Versace logo and Medusa head are still prominent in the collection over everything from girls’ swimsuits to boys’ sweatshirts. For the boys, there is a rather fabulous collection of black and white swirl print pieces, over harem style trousers or skinny jeans, a collarless casual jacket and a pair of smart loafers. Black and white or blue and yellow seem to be the colour combinations for boys, which we also saw at Fun & Fun.

The blue and yellow collection for boys is punchy, and although the silhouettes and shapes are nothing new, the strong, fun prints will attract the Versace customer. The shoes in this collection are fantastic, with a selection of loafers, deck shoes, sandals and hi-top trainers in a wide variety of bright colours and suede, leather or punched out detail leather.

For the girls, there is also a collection of black and white dresses. Perfect for an elegant summer occasion. Our favourite was the white cap sleeve shift dress with stud detail. Which could be dressed down with a pair of the black leather hi-top trainers with punched out detail.
