As the temperatures in beautiful Florence continue to drop, the Junior fashion team valiantly shiver our way around the ever-expanding list of catwalks to bring our readers the inside scoop from the winter 2013 childrenswear shows.
Last night we found refuge in the form of the Monnalisa presentation, held at the elegant Goldoni Theatre in central Florence.
The walls of the theatre curved round with rows of boxes reaching to the heavens and the large stage had already been set with the regulatory Monnalisa glitter.

The sportswear-inspired line of Monnalisa, NY&LON, opened the show with a bang as a legion of models danced on stage to the 2012 YouTube hit - Gangnam Style.
The licensed characters featured this winter season for the girlswear are Charlie and the gang from the Peanuts cartoons. They are featured over tops and busy patterned leggings. Mustard yellow, red and navy blue dominated the colour palette, over flared mini skirts, striped leggings, fit-and-flare dresses and padded bomber jackets. We loved the Minnie Mouse cheerleader-esque pom pom headbands - hope they make it off the catwalk and into stores!
The boys NY&LON collection was mainly in shades of red, mustard yellow and green. Red skinny cord trousers and mustard yellow skinnies were teamed with green preppy cardigans and tan ankle boots. Also dancing Gangnam Style, the boys showed off a few cool moves to rival the girls'.
Glitter flew from the girls' heels as they trounced down the catwalk to the sounds of the Spice Girls for the Jackioo presentation. This winter season it is themed around the jungle movie, Madagascar.
Again, this collection was mainly in shades of mustard yellow. Furry gilets and shift dresses alike had skinny waist belts with bows to tie. Peter Pan collars adorned the necks of dresses with giant Madagascar graphic prints. Grey thigh-high socks, shown throughout the collections, had bow detailing at the knee.
The second Jackioo collection seemed to be inspired by the sixties, as it was accompanied by a Beatles soundtrack. Floppy brim hats, drop waist and shift dresses and monochrome striped long gloves were all highlights. The colour combination of dark green and dark blue was a classy one. We saw striped tights and a star print jumper - a print as seen at many other labels for the upcoming season.
The core collection, which caters for girls as young as two years, was shown via video screen. The label’s young fans paraded in their favourite outfits, telling the captivated audience why they love Monnalisa.
It showed an abundance of winter florals, plenty of pink and lots of puffa jackets.
The grown-up, smart collection showcased a plethora of blue and white. Cream knee socks with a pleated skirt that was risen to the knee at the front and dipped at the back, as seen at Miss Blumarine, was a popular look.
Collarless jackets, tied at the waist, Peter Pan collars, quilted metallic blue coats and front pleat trousers were key silhouettes. We also noted the use of netted veils over riding shaped hats, something also seen at the Il Gufo show.
The boyswear collection was kind of country casual gentleman this season. Red, cream and brown trousers came in cord and cotton and were rolled up at the ankle. Fitted, buttoned-up blazers were finished off with bow ties and some looks topped off with flat caps.
