Beaches Turks & Caicos is one of the world’s leading all-inclusive family resorts and as re-opened its doors to guests after undergoing upgrades post Hurricane Irma. Here we tell you why it may just be the perfect family getaway...
A holiday to the Caribbean is a trip of a lifetime...
and no longer reserved for couples or honeymoons. Family holidays to far-flung areas are now more the norm than ever and if one travel company springs to mind its Beaches Resorts.
Beaches Resorts is the ultimate getaway for every member of the family - as part of the Sandals group they are constantly voted are one world’s leading all-inclusive family resorts (as well as winning an award from us too!). We visited the Providenciales Turks & Caicos resort which is situated on the Caribbean’s best and longest stretch of sandy white beach.
Post Hurricane Irma in September 2017 Beaches Turks & Caico underwent a major renovation and re-opened its doors bringing with it a range of exciting additions including new restaurants, snack bars and water sports activities.
All accommodations in all five villages of the resort have been upgraded, along with the lobbies and public areas. At Beaches you can expect a whole host of family-friendly actives including waterparks, an XBOX Play Lounge, exclusive kids camps, teen nightclubs, certified nannies, a butler service, the Red Lane Spa, aqua centres with expert PADI certification and training and so, so much more.
Beaches Resort is also a proud sponsor of Sesame Street where kids can spend their holiday time with their favourite friends from the Sesame Street gang with daily activities, weekly stage shows and themed meals.

Here is Junior's top ten reasons to visit Beaches Turks & Caicos:
1. THE FLIGHT - IT’S EASIER THAN YOU THINK TO GET HERE!
At just over 9 hours flying to beaches Turks & Caicos is doable for most families and one of the fastest and easiest island destinations to reach in the Caribbean.
A morning flight is a great idea for families as the time difference is between 4-5 hours - so it's easier to adjust when you arrive.
2. SPACIOUS ROOMS - PERFECT FOR ALL THE FAMILY
Choosing a room at Beaches Turks & Caicos will be your first hurdle when booking your luxury holiday. With over 20 different room categories (with various views and settings) and five magnificent villages: Italy, France, the Caribbean and Key West to choose from (each village boasts architecture, room decor and the ambiance of either) - you really are spoilt for choice.
This enables you to get the perfect accommodation for the whole family - whether you need a downstairs room with a baby or more bedrooms. Each room is equipped with a kitchen, sitting room and of course, a fully stocked fridge with drinks. Cribs, rollaway beds and high chairs can be requested too.
JUNIOR APPROVED: We stayed in the Caribbean suites and had a massive open plan lounge and kitchen, balcony, ensuite bedroom and bathroom and walk-in shower.
3. SEA & SAND - THERE IS NO WHERE MORE BEAUTIFUL!
Of course when you head to the Caribbean you expect glorious golden sands and crystal clear waters. And, that's exactly what you get at Beaches Turks & Caicos. The soft, dusty sand doesn't bother even the fussiest of children's toes and the beauty of being able to see into the 'sea' is great for little swimmers and will help them gain water confidence. We defy you to find a more beautiful stretch of beach.
4. FOOD - YOU WILL BE SPOILT FOR CHOICE
Part of the joy of all-inclusive - beside being great for fussy and picky little eaters - is the vast choice and options to basically eat and drink as you wish. With 24-hour offerings you can eat as and when you want and to fit around your children's bedtime, nap and playtime routines.
With 22 dining options you could literally eat somewhere different every day and night of your stay. With fine dining, casual suppers and snack bars to choose from you can literally take you pick and eat to your hearts content. Some of the more specialised restaurants require you to book in advance (you can do this at concierge).
JUNIOR APPROVED: We tried Kimonos (where the food is cooked right in front of you), Barefoot by the Sea (which offered a beach side setting), Schooners (for a relaxed family meal) and Bobby Dee's (a retro diner serving up the usual American fair of burgers, fries and milkshakes) which is within the waterpark (more information about this below).
The refurb has seen the addition of Mr. Mac, an artisan macaroni and cheese truck and Curls n’ Swirls a vintage Volkswagen truck which serves ice cream, frozen yoghurt milkshakes and other chilled treats.
5. A KIDS CLUB - THAT THEY WON'T WANT TO LEAVE
At Beaches kids get lots of extra attention with tailor-made fun and age-appropriate activities from tots to teens - who can often be a little tricky to 'entertain' on holiday. There is also a teen disco, XBOX play lounge and arcades. Supervised and fully certified all the kids clubs and kids camps are open to all (additional charge for special needs one-to-one assistance and private childcare) and are until 9am-9pm daily. On your daily newsletter there is a list of what is on for each day helping you plan the perfect timetable.
6. SESAME STREET - EVERYONES FAVOURITE CHARACTERS
Bringing us nicely onto Sesame Street. In an exclusive partnership Beaches Resort host the infamous furry cast from the most famous street in TV history. Toddlers and younger children will delight in seeing them on their resort walkabouts and parades, can join in the singing and dancing with the regular stage shows and get up close and personal with them in their own themed activities. From storytelling with Elmo, cookie making with the Cookie Monster, number counting with The Count and much more. Beaches are also proud to introduce 'Julia' a sweet and curious 4-year-old girl with autism helping to make every child feel 'included' at Beaches and to show that all kids are amazing and can be friends.
JUNIOR TOP-TIP: There is also a bookable (and additional charge) for a special Sesame Street Character Breakfast which is like one loud kid party - the kids will love it and a great way to see any stars they may have missed and also fill up their signature passport.
7. TOURS - ADVENTUROUS MINI ESCAPES
Although you won't want to leave the sanctuary of the resort we suggest you seek out the tours and day trips. All bookable before you go or once you arrive - they are hand-picked and ensure you see more of the Caribbean, far from the beaten track but with guided assistance.
From deep-sea fishing and dolphin encounters, to catamaran sails, canopy tours and biking and buggy tours. There is themed Sesame Street boat trips, trips for teens (which gives them a sense of independence but, of course is all supervised) and even a mermaid tour!
We experienced the Island Vibes Kitty Kat tour which is a luxurious 65-ft. "Kitty Katt" catamaran that takes you Lizard Island for a spot of swimming, snorkelling in the crystal waters and some lizard sightings. The added family fun and adventure comes with the "Kitty Katt's" 8-ft. tube slide, party atmosphere and the staff - who are all friendly, helpful and make it a fun trip for everyone.
Lunch, refreshments are served on board and it's a great morning trip that makes you feel like you are experiencing the real Caribbean. Be sure to take a towel, suncream beach shoes (for walking through Lizard Island) and your camera!
8. ENTERTAINMENT - EVERYNIGHT IS SHOWTIME
You can fill your evening with as much fun as your daytimes at Beaches Resorts. The nightly show on the centre stage features top-rate entertainers, along with regular kids parties, teen clubs and talent contests.
The weekly beach party is not to be missed for those with children, as Sesame Street own the stage and get children up and joining in all the fun, along with a traditional beach barbecue meal. Again, you need to checkout the daily newsletter delivered to your room - the day before - so, you can plan your days and nights to your hearts content.
9. WATER PARK - AN EASY 'DAY OUT'
When sitting, playing and swimming in one of the numerous pools you can hit the 45,000 square foot waterpark.
Pirates Island is a 'day out' without the travel. You can spend as long as you wish in the waterpark and leave feeling like you have been off the resort for a day trip. Ideal for keeping th children entertained - although you may find yourself in there more than you expected!
As inside Pirate Island you will find 11 waterslides, a lazy river, a surf simulator, splash deck, waterfall pool and more. There is also a zero-entry pool for tots, a kids-only swim up bar and even a games room for those who want to dry off. With a fifties diner, food and (see more above) and an ice-cream machine this is the one place for some serious fun at Beaches.
10. THE EXTRAS - SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Beaches Resorts really do have something for everyone not matter what your interests. Land sports, water sports, golf and spas you can as a family spend lots of time doing everything your enjoy.
The Red Lane spa is worth mentioning as they offer fitness programs, relaxation and spa treatments (all additional costs) for everyone including an extensive teens menu and even mum and child treatments.
