Of course, we all love the idea of ribbon wrapped Christmas presents stacked to the rafters but year after year, there are always just a few stand-out gifts that really make an impact, and younger kids, without fail, will spend more time playing with the boxes than the contents! Between gifts from friends and relatives, the present unwrapping marathon can be completely overwhelming for children and it's little wonder they don't sit in the moment and perhaps show quite the level of appreciation required to warm those Christmas cockles.

With the environment, unnecessary waste and the cost of living heavy on our minds as well as an overriding desire to buy presents that are truly thoughtful and meaningful, we've decided to adopt the four gift rule, choosing each family member something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. We know not everyone in the family needs four gifts under the tree but we thought we'd give you options! If you want to add a 5th gift - we suggest something to share. A family gift that can be enjoyed by all members.
