A classic pudding or after-school treat but, with a modern child friendly twist - Raspberry Jam Poly Poly with added fruit factor with Fruit Bowl fruit flakes - which also contributes to one of your little ones 5-a day too. Win. Win.

Ingredients

  • 3 packets of Raspberry Fruit Bowl Fruit Flakes
  • 1 knob of butter
  • 300g self-raising flour
  • 85g caster sugar
  • 140g Suet
  • 150ml milk
  • 8tbsp Raspberry jam
  • 425g custard to serve

Method

  • STEP 1

    Heat your oven to 170C/gas mark 4

  • STEP 2

    Place a roasting dish half full with boiling water in the bottom of the oven, making sure there is another shelf directly above for the Jam Roly Poly

  • STEP 3

    Mix the flour, sugar and suet together and add a good pinch of salt

  • STEP 4

    Pour in the milk and mix to make a soft dough, making sure it's not too sticky

  • STEP 5

    Roll out the dough onto a floured surface until it’s about 20x30cm

  • STEP 6

    Making sure you leave a border around the edges, cover with jam and scatter with Fruit Bowl Raspberry Fruit Flakes

  • STEP 7

    Roll into a sausage shape and gently pinch the ends to seal in the jam

  • STEP 8

    Cover a sheet of baking parchment in butter

  • STEP 9

    Roll up tightly in the buttered baking parchment then roll in tin foil

  • STEP 10

    Place on a baking tray and pop it on the shelf directly above the roasting dish currently in the oven

  • STEP 11

    Bake for 50 mins until the roll feels firm

  • STEP 12

    Allow to stand for 5 mins before slicing into portions

  • STEP 13

    Serve with custard and a sprinkling of Fruit Flakes!
