Name a child that doesn't love Baked Beans? That's what we thought. You'll be hard pressed to find a kid that will turn down a side of beans with their breakfast, lunch or dinner. Or, that British staple 'beans on toast'.

Well, we teamed up with Heinz Baked Beanz to show you there is so much more to the humble beans on toast and share 3 great lazy weekend breakfast and brunch ideas that the whole family can enjoy.

Ingredients

Baked Beanz Shakshuka (serves 4)

  • 1tbsp olive oil
  • 1 red onion peeled and finely sliced
  • 1 garlic clove peeled and crushed
  • 1 yellow pepper deseeded and sliced
  • 1tbsp sweet smoked paprika
  • 1 cherry tomatoes
  • 415g baked beans
  • 4 free-range eggs
  • 1tsp dried chilli flakes optional
  • parsley chopped
  • toasted flat bread to serve

Breakfast Burrito (serves 8)

  • 600g baked beans
  • 8 flour tortilla wraps
  • 3 free-range eggs
  • 100g mushrooms diced
  • 150g peppers - any colours diced
  • 200g potatoes peeled and diced
  • 170g good quality sausages
  • 60g cheddar
  • 45g skimmed milk
  • 2tsp vegetable oil
  • 5g butter
  • salt and peper to taste

All-Day Veggie Breakfast Pots (serves 10)

  • 1kg Heinz No Added Sugar Beanz
  • 500g potatoes peeled and cut into 2cm dice
  • 2tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1tsp smoked paprika
  • 10 Quorn Sausages
  • 200g red pepper
  • 4tbsp brown sauce
  • chopped parsley to garnish

Method

15 min prep, 40-45 mins cooking

  • STEP 1
    Shakshuka
    1. Pour the oil into a large frying pan and add the onion and garlic. Fry until they just begin to soften, then add the sliced pepper and paprika. Cook for a further 5 minutes.
    2. Pour in the tinned tomatoes and the Heinz Beanz, give everything a good mix and leave to simmer over a medium heat for 10 minutes while stirring occasionally.
    3. Make four small wells in the sauce using the back of a spoon. Break an egg into a cup and drop carefully into each well. Cook over a gentle heat for a few more minutes until the whites are just set and the yolks are still runny. Sprinkle over parsley and chilli flakes.
    4. Serve with toasted flat bread.

15 mins prep, 25 mins cooking

    1. Place sausages, potatoes, mushrooms and peppers on a baking sheet. Drizzle everything with oil and season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook at 200ºC for 20 minutes or until cooked through.
    2. Whisk together eggs, milk, and salt and pepper to taste. Heat butter in a non-stick pan overmedium-low heat. Gently fold your eggs until loosely scrambled and just cooked through. Set aside

10 min prep, 20-25 mins cooking

    1. Preheat the oven to 180c
    2. Place the potatoes onto a baking tray and toss with 1 tbsp of the oil and smoked paprika. Roast for 20-25 minutes or until the potatoes are crispy and golden brown
    3. Halfway through the cooking time place the Quorn Sausages onto a baking tray with the diced peppers and brush with remaining oil. Cook for 12-15 minutes or until the Quorn Sausages reach core temperature and the peppers are soft. Remove from the oven and slice the Quorn Sausages into 5 pieces
    4. Meanwhile in a large pan gently heat the Heinz Beanz and stir in the brown sauce
    5. Once cooked add the potatoes, sliced Quorn Sausages and peppers to the pan and stir gently to combine and heat through
    6. To serve, divide the bean mixture between 10 take-away tubs and garnish with a little chopped parsley
