We reveal the winners of the best compact / travel pushchair in this year's Junior Design Awards

WHAT: Cosatto Wowee Pushchair
WHY: Our judges really loved the design of this super lightweight, easy to fold and easy to carry buggy, which is suitable from newborn up to 25kg. Once folded the buggy can stand up on its own and is so compact it’s great for anyone with limited storage space. The simple lines of the frame and roomy mesh under carriage storage, really stood out as did the bold graphic hood designs that are the product of a partnership with The Sussex Baby Lab, who investigate how patterns enhance baby’s sensory skills in the early stages of development. Our panel felt this was a cool ride with many functional and technical innovations that would not only be a pleasure to look at, but would make life with a little one noticeably easier.
It’s easy to fold, great to look at and packed with design details that also deliver on performance, including a lie-flat seat that really does lie flat, and a really intuitive folding mechanism. The only difficult thing is choosing which print to get.
This is such an eye pleasing buggy with so many great technical features. I am also a big fan of the bold, graphic hood.
Great that this is suitable for newborns without the need for a carrycot and I love the UPF100+ hood with ventilation.
Cosatto is always fun style-wise. This is well-designed with standout features like a 2-way seat and the fact that you can attach a car seat is a huge plus point. I would consider this for everyday use (not just for holidays) also.

WHAT: Didofy Aster
WHY: Our panel felt that this buggy would be absolutely perfect for parents who love adventures. Super lightweight and compact it folds down at the touch of a button and is so compact it can be stored as cabin luggage or in overhead lockers. The JDA judges thought the design was really cool and chic, and were very impressed with all the thoughtful extras like the large storage basket, UPF50 waterproof hood with ventilation, the easy release bumper bar, flip flop friendly brake, shoulder strap and different reclining options. A fantastic buggy for parents who are quite literally on the go.
This is such a stylish pushchair with so many added extras to make journeys smoother and babies comfier.
Good weight, and weight capacity/age range and there are lots of thoughtful features. You don’t always get these ‘extras’ with a compact or lightweight, so I was impressed to see a multi-facing seat, carry strap, suspension etc (often corners that are cut in this category) and brilliant price. Great for holiday travel, but I’d definitely consider for an everyday city pushchair too.

WHAT: The Silver Cross Clic
WHY: This simple to use, attractive buggy was a big hit with our judges who loved the simple, robust frame and the easy to manoeuvre wheels that glided across our testing floor. The simple one-hand, one second fold mechanism was much admired and the panel were super impressed with the extremely compact size of the folded down buggy, which is small enough to take on an aircraft. Other details such as a one hand use drawstring for reclining the seat and an adjustable footrest that allows this buggy to grow with your child also scored highly.

The Clic has a nifty and ultra compact fold, plus a handy shoulder strap to make transporting it super easy. With Silver Cross' trademark good looks and attention to detail, this is a stylish lightweight.
Silver Cross is a strong brand with so many good features. Very smart and lightweight.
A great all purpose pushchair at a very reasonable price.
I love that this is truly lightweight, yet it has useful, premium design elements like a bumper bar and a calf rest that are missing in some other models. I’m also a huge fan of the unusual colour options. The black is sleek and stylish but I’m a sucker for the lilac!
