Best International Children’s Fashion Brand | Junior Design Awards 2021

We support the children's fashion industry far and wide - so, it's a pleasure to honour these international fashion brands with a Junior Design Award

WHO: The Middle Daughter
WHAT: A directional girl’s wear brand for ages 2-14yrs.

WHY: Occasionally there’s a landslide victory in a category and we have to say The Middle Daughter caused the equivalent of a style avalanche amongst our judges! This collection of show-stopping structural dresses and softer jersey pieces, featuring bold blocks of colour and in-house designed prints, really wowed the panel with their quality and sheer originality. The Middle Daughter told us that they wanted to connect the dots between kidswear and womenswear in both style and quality and we think they have definitely met their goal and more. The panel loved the delicious colour combinations, the comfort and wearability of the pieces – no matter how striking – and enjoyed the way the whole collection worked together to create a dream wardrobe of mix and match pieces. The Middle Daughter’s emphasis on quality and the welfare of their workers was also applauded. Congratulations on a Platinum JDA winning collection The Middle Daughter!

Just wow. Exceptional. These pieces are each like works of art. I feel like they’re in a league of their own!
Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Fashion Stylist
Always so gorgeous, The Middle Daugher’s clothes are dreamy. I want them all in my size. They remind me of vintage Biba or Ossy Clarke. Adore!
Leonie Freeman, Children’s Fashion and Lifestyle Photographer

WHERE: The Middle Daughter

WHO: Paade Mode
WHAT: Contemporary, laid back, luxury kidswear

WHY: The collection that Paade Mode sent in for judging had our industry experts in raptures and plenty of photographs were taken of several of the pieces for reference. Always a very positive sign! With its intricate details, textures and colours, this brand stood out as something really distinctive and special and our all of our panel felt that these clothes had a wonderfully free feeling, unrestricted in imagination and style. With a wide range of influences and fabric choices, the judges agreed that this brand had created an exciting and eclectic collection that stood apart from trends, existing as beautiful but very wearable works of art.

One of our favorite brands. So much detail and creativity, year in year out.
Bonnie Van Geel, Photographer and Stylist
I just adored the collection sent in for judging. It felt fresh, unique, cool, effortless and really wasn’t like anything else in terms of style, fabrics & colours. It’s so hard to create something desirable yet different now, so congratulations on achieving that!
Charlotte Kewley, children’s fashion stylist
What is not to love? It’s directional, with such exciting silhouettes and details. I would love to wear these in adult size!

WHAT: FW21 La Suisse Collection

WHY: This beautiful, uplifting collection, strewn with full blown roses on voluminous quilted dresses and jackets really stole our judges’ hearts. Bib panels, full sleeves and a stunning use of colour that even reached the usually reserved palette of boyswear had everyone jostling for a look. The panel all agreed that this was a stunning and original collection that they would love to dress their own children in. We can’t wait to see more!

I have completely fallen in love with the mix of bright colours, fantastic prints and brilliant cuts.

WHO: MarMar Copenhagen
WHAT: Making Memories Collection
WHY: Time and time again we heard our judges wistfully cooing over this gorgeous, cosy collection. A soft, cloud grey knit with an adorable embroidered contrast collar was on everyone’s wish-list for themselves, while the sweetest dresses with beautiful detailing and warm quilted jackets that were of exceptional quality, truly impressed the panel. MarMar Copenhagen told us they hoped to create clothes with essence of hope stitched into the buttons and adventure sewn into the hems as an antidote to the constraints and sadness of the Covid years and we felt it.

I adore the vintage feeling of this brand.
Alexandra Tolstoy, Influencer and Stylist
