JUNIOR DESIGN AWARDS WINNERS FOR BEST FASHION NEWCOMER (UK & INTERNATIONAL): GOLD

WHO: Banana Berry Design
WHAT: An ethically made clothing collection designed in Ireland

WHY: This fun, bold, contemporary clothing brand really stood out to our judges who often referenced it as one of their favourite new brands in the awards. Bright pops of colour, abstract graphic shapes and fun embroidered slogans really made this collection sing and our panel could see children loving these clothes just as much as parents, which as we all know is a wonderful thing. The cool designs, fabulous quality and eco-conscious production values took this small business to gold awards status.

The use of colour, quirky graphics and fab quality make this brand stand out as something special.

WHO: Vandalkids
WHAT: Vandalkids Mess-Proof tracksuit
WHY: Our judges loved the buy less, buy better, wash less ethos of this brand, which is working hard to extend the lifespan of kids clothes while keeping their designs exciting and appealing to children. The eighties street art themed prints were a hit with the panel who thought they complemented the casual style of the clothing well. The fact that these pieces are designed to be wipeable, breathable, abrasion resistant and durable was something that really resonated with our parent judges who understood the frustration of wanting to re-sell or hand down clothes through their kids only to find that they are too worn out or stained to do so.

It's fantastic to see a brand put so much thought into finding a solution for extending the life of kids’clothing. The fact you can give these clothes a quick wipe rather than immediately putting them in the washing machine is great for time poor and eco-conscious parents too.

There’s a bit of a LOUD apparel feel about this brand. They better watch out for this new kid on the block. Cute label and branding.

JUNIOR DESIGN AWARDS WINNERS FOR BEST FASHION NEWCOMER (UK & INTERNATIONAL): BRONZE

WHO: Cosy Organic
WHAT: Organic Linen Girls Top with Safflower Plant Dye Ribbon
WHY: This pared back organic linen top adorned with a single ribbon dyed with plant based colour really stood out in its sweet simplicity. The panel was excited to learn that this brand was launched to fill a gap in the market for clothing that is super soft and completely free from chemicals and plastic, making it suitable for children with sensitive skin and conditions like eczema. Cosy Organic’s commitment to sourcing only 100% premium organic cotton, linen, elastic and thread with a GOTS and Oeko-tex certification really impressed, as did the fact that all their fabrics and threads are plant-dyed by hand in their studio.

These Adorable tops and dresses may look simple but the thought and care that goes into making them is anything but…
