WINNER OF BEST CHILDREN’S TOILETRIES COLLECTION: PLATINUM

WHO: Dandydill Way
WHAT: A naturally derived, luxury skincare brand for children
WHY: From the apothecary inspired bottles to the breath of fresh air hawthorn berry scent, this product line really stood out as something truly unique and special in the children’s toiletries market. Our judges loved the clean lines and pared back feel of the transparent bottles and the playful tumbling alphabet design on the boxes. The premium feel of this brand is very strong and the panel was pleased to see that this was matched in thought for the environment, with fully traceable, sustainable ingredients and packaging made from recycled materials as well as being recyclable.

This is such a nurturing, gentle brand and you can tell how much thought has gone into everything, from the design to the sustainable, natural ingredients.
Bonita Turner, Editor of Junior
A nature-inspired brand that seems to be in touch with its roots still. And a well thought-out product range to accommodate babies right through to high-minded children and young tweens, with natural deodorising lotion and eau de toilettes. I especially love the name, Dandydill Way, now I know how it came about.
Charlotte Jolly, Beauty Director, Hello!

soap

WINNER OF BEST CHILDREN’S TOILETRIES COLLECTION: JOINT GOLD

WHO: Rowdy Kind

WHAT: Plastic-free bath & bodycare range for kids

WHY: Our judges were delighted to discover this entry, that has taken the eco-friendly shampoo bar, tailored it to kids and run with it. The presentation of the bars, which come in a variety of fun colours and textures all stamped with the brand’s distinctive logo, really impressed the panel who felt they would appeal to young children and families. The option of a handy re-usable tin to store the soap bars was much appreciated, while the discovery that these bars float and can’t turn to mush at the bottom of the bath, was another big tick! Looks aside, the yummy smelling, gentle formulations, made with sensitive skin in mind were a big hit but most exciting of all was the brand’s impeccable eco-credentials. Each cleansing, conditioning and moisturising bar saves on two plastic bottles, all of the ingredients are ethically sourced and their shipping packaging is 100% paper and fully recyclable.

A wonderful ethos!

With the rise of the plastic free beauty bar, it seems only fair that there’s a fun, child-friendly alternative. As close to sustainable as you can get in this market, hopefully this chunky, plastic-free bar can create lifelong habits among its fresh-faced demographic.
Charlotte Jolly, Beauty Director, Hello!

scrub

WINNER OF BEST CHILDREN’S TOILETRIES COLLECTION: JOINT GOLD

WHO: Scrubbingtons
WHAT: The Scrubbington’s skincare range
WHY: Our panel felt that Scrubbingtons had really found a niche and filled it with a range of products aimed at primary school children. Making skincare for active, adventurous kids is what Scrubbingtons is all about and that means finding formulations that are not only gentle on young skin but tackle those whiffs and pongs that are inevitable as children grow and develop. The judges loved the 98% natural formulations and the gorgeous smells. The easy to use, part recycled plastic pumps with large heads that are easy to press down on, were praised for helping children wash independently and the fact that Scrubbington’s widely sells refill sachets so that these robust pumps can be used time and time again was something that everyone loved. A simple, eco-friendly step that so many brands could learn from.

Very thoughtfully targeted to that primary school ‘in-between’ age group. This no-frills (but lots of foam) brand ticks lots of boxes, such as easy-to-use pumps, refill pouches and non gender-specific products.
Charlotte Jolly, Beauty Director, Hello!
Reasonably priced and I think the refills are fantastic!!
Chloe Thurston, Stylist and Influencer

This was definitely the case for Spots & Stripes who have created a really fun, stylish and effective natural skincare range for tweens and teens that yes, smells amazing. Hormonal skin meets Hamptons vibes with this smart-looking skincare line-up. Spots & Stripes is a one-stop shop for tween-teen children, from spot-zappers to mood-boosting aromatherapy sprays.
Charlotte Jolly, Beauty Director, Hello!
Wow a tween and teen brand!!! Amazing for tackling the issues - when child related products no longer cut it - like greasier hair etc. A definite gap in the market for it!

b&B

WINNER OF BEST CHILDREN’S TOILETRIES COLLECTION: JOINT SILVER

WHO: Bloom & Blossom
WHAT: Bloom & Blossom Matilda Range
WHY: Bloom & Blossom’s genius collaboration with this iconic story book and its cast of brave and eccentric characters really appealed to our judges. Roald Dahl’s Matilda and crew, drawn by the inimitable hand of Quentin Blake, not only add humour and excitement to the bath tub and dresser but they create a fantastic link between bath time and that all important bedtime story. The formulations themselves are all naturally derived and smell wonderful and many of our judges were already familiar with the range – especially Matilda’s Magical Pillow Spray which has become a household favourite creating a lovely soothing and calming atmosphere. An extremely well thought out collection of products that give children a sense of fun and security at the same time.

Matilda is the perfect bedtime companion. The signature sweet orange and lavender fragrance becomes such a persuasive sleep cue over time. And the Pink Lemonade scent is inspired!
Charlotte Jolly, Beauty Director, Hello!

ouate-2

WINNER OF BEST CHILDREN’S TOILETRIES COLLECTION: BRONZE

WHO: Ouate
WHAT: French beauty brand for children aged 4 -11 years
WHY: This sweet playful brand with its whimsical packaging and gentle but effective products really appealed to our beauty focused judges who loved its pharmacy feel, innovative formulas and easy to use dispensers. As well as producing high quality with natural ingredients, Ouate place a great deal of emphasis on giving kids autonomy over their skincare, designing packaging that is really simple to access and fun to use. The brand’s new, easy to spray MA BRUME 1 2 3 SOLEIL sun screen for sensitive skin with double UVA and UVB protection was a particular hit with the JDA panel.

On first impression, this looks like a French pharmacy brand with lots of heritage, but it’s actually a fairly young company with a quirky outlook and quite a progressive product range. Sure to become one of those French products that Brits bulk buy to bring home for friends and family (along with Le Petit Marseillais and booze). The cotton pad box is trop mignon!
Charlotte Jolly, Beauty Director, Hello!
Excellent design and lovely illustrations and colours. Trés chic!!!
