WHAT: Leather Boots for Children

WHY: Whose boots? Richard’s Boots! Congratulations to this brand-new JDA entrant for scooping a well-deserved gold award. Our judges were unanimous in their appreciation of these simple leather lace-up boots that have a charming heritage vibe while still managing to look fresh and cool. Tanned with an eco-friendly olive-based treatment, the leather used to make these boots has a stunning depth and would look great with anything from pretty dresses to chunky cords and denim. The panel loved the minimal look and feel of these boots with a broad toe box and flexible crepe sole that is perfect for running about in.

A stand-out brand from this year’s Junior Design Awards. Congratulations to Richard’s Boots.

The brand’s statement, “Scratches and marks expressly desired.” really resonates and I love the idea that these shoes are not precious but made for exploring and playing in.

WHO: BGreater Shoes

WHAT: Kids’shoes designed to promote healthy foot development using barefoot principles

WHY:
These shoes really impressed our panel in terms of design, foot health and price point. Well-made and super comfortable (an eight-year-old was a willing road-tester) these shoes are a fab way of giving your child all the benefits of barefoot style shoes without the high price tag. The judges really liked the design of the more casual models and felt the school range filled a gap in the market for smart-looking, robust, foot-friendly shoes.

Great practical shoes that look really well made. Love the white and green trainer, perfect nod to retro.

A new brand to me, it's really interesting to learn about the health benefits of barefoot shoes and these come at a fantastic price point. Super impressed by the school shoes.
Charlotte Kewley, Children’s Stylist and content creator, @thelittlestylist
Great for school shoes - lots of room for growth.
Tracey Jacob, Children’s fashion stylist, @traceyjacob1
Yay! An alternative to stiff school shoes that aren’t trainers but might fool your kids that they are!

WHO: Pip & Henry

WHAT: Eco-friendly kids’ shoes

WHY: Our judges were really impressed by the eco-friendly ethos of this brand, which makes its footwear from luxurious sustainable materials such as organic cotton, pineapple leaf fibre and recycled rubber. In fact, 80% of the materials used in these shoes are environmentally preferred and the brand offers a recycling service for their outgrown shoes. Both big ticks for eco-conscious parents and kids. The panel felt these shoes were super cute and friendly with fun print details, designed with maximum comfort and ease of movement in mind.

Love the cute prints and colours on these shoes that really speak to kids’ imaginations, made with eco-friendly materials that speak to their future.
