JUNIOR DESIGN AWARDS 2020 PLATINUM WINNER: Best Children's and Tween Toiletries Collection

WHO: Dandydill Way

WHAT: A children’s toiletry range made in the UK from the finest, naturally derived ingredients with a focus on sustainability

WHY: This beautifully considered range of products really does set the bar for luxury children’s toiletries. From the apothecary inspired bottles to the foraged wild hawthorn berry infused lotions and potions they house, this brand is quite literally a breath of fresh air. The brand takes its responsibilities to the planet and children’s skincare equally seriously using only FSC approved card from properly managed forests for their cartons and easily recyclable PET plastic for their packaging.

All the products in the rage parabens, SLS, SLES, sulphates, PEG, ethoxylates, MIT, silicones, artificial fragrances or artificial colourings free and the formulations themselves have wonderful textures and smells that are a pleasure to use. Huge congratulations to founder and make-up artist Tania Rodney on this slow-grown brand that continues to delight year after year.

Simple design which feels boutique. I love the liquid powder and the perfume.
Jools Oliver, Children’s Clothing designer and author, @joolsoliver
These products are beautiful both inside and out. There is no doubt I would be tempted to 'borrow' these from the kids’ bathroom shelf.
Sam Dean, Beauty Journalist and Brand Copywriter
Dandydill Way is speaking to an audience that isn't often targeted in this space and striking the right balance with its nourishing and mostly natural formulas in sophisticated and covetable bottles that wouldn't look out of place in any bathroom. Seems to be mindful about sustainability along its supply chain. Very giftable too.
Charlotte Jolly, Beauty Director of Hello! and Hello! Fashion
This packaging is so stylish and clean, it makes me think use me right now!

JUNIOR DESIGN AWARDS 2020 GOLD WINNER: Best Children's and Tween Toiletries Collection

WHO: Spots & Stripes

WHAT: An earth-friendly brand formulated for the unique needs of tween and teen skin.

WHY: This is such a joyful brand that manages to strike the balance between looking cool enough and working hard enough for teens and tweens to give it their seal of approval while also appealing to parents who want to give their children the best start on their skincare journey. Our panel were immediately drawn to the fun but sleek packaging and there were endless sounds of approval whenever lids were opened and noses were proffered.

The panel loved the fact that this brand was honest enough to tackle the greasy roots, sweaty bodies and inevitable spots of this often challenging chapter in a direct but nurturing way, creating a lovely supportive collection of products that enable older children to feel in control of their skincare. The fact that this brand is ethically sourced and uses 100% natural actives and 0% parabens, SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), phthalates, and other nasties was another hugely positive factor for the panel.

Beautiful products and brilliant for the pre teen market. Lovely design and the actual products are on point for the age range.
Jools Oliver, Children’s Clothing designer and author, @joolsoliver
These products give tweens/teens the chance to take ownership of their skincare regimes. It's a really positive introduction to self-care. I love how grown-up products, such as face mists and mood sprays, have been completely reimagined for tweens and teens. The sets and bundles make great gifts, too.
Charlotte Jolly Beauty Director of Hello! and Hello! Fashion
Love the fact that this range caters to that in-between age.

WHO: Bloom and Blossom

WHAT: Fun, efficacious children’s toiletries made with natural ingredients with an emphasis on creating a happy bedtime routine to help children get a good night sleep.

WHY: This fun and frolicsome toiletries range puts the joy into bath time, cleverly harnessing the most exciting and sometimes naughty characters from some of Roald Dahl’s most treasured children’s stories all drawn by Quentin Blake’s inimitable hand. The brand is fast becoming a household name and their newly designed, bold logo and packaging was a big hit with the judges. As well as looking great, the JDA judges also felt that these products smelt fantastic and most importantly made little children smell fantastic too!

I absolutely love this brand and their scents are such that my kids actively run upstairs for bath time.
Gemma Metcalfe, founder of Mutha. Hood @mutha.hood
The Roald Dahl collaboration is inspired, as are the fragrances - I particularly like the Pink Lemonade swim shampoo and the Eucalyptus & Lavender range.

good-bubble

JUNIOR DESIGN AWARDS 2020 JOINT BRONZE WINNER: Best Children's and Tween Toiletries Collection

WHO: Good Bubble x Julia Donaldson Bath Range

WHAT: A naturally derived and organic kid’s bubble bath featuring the popular characters from author Julia Donaldson CBE and illustrator Axel Scheffler. Suitable for toddlers, children and tweens.

WHY: Lots of the judges adored the smells of these bath bubbles and the lids were constantly being lifted for a quick inhale of Prickly Pear Extract, Pumpkin and Wild Lily or Orange and Dragon Fruit - just a few of the brand’s original and exciting fragrances. Heavenly scents aside, our panel were super impressed by the incredibly accessible price point for a naturally derived product range and the brand’s use of 50% Post-Consumer Recycled plastic bottles across the range was also a major plus point.

This is a really fun collection with its instantly recognisable illustrations, imaginative names and bewitching smells.
Charlotte Jolly Beauty Director of Hello! and Hello! Fashion
Always happy to see 'hypoallergenic formulation' on kids skincare as one of my children can use nothing but. Looks like this collection delivers good, clean, fun in the bathtub. Also, impressed with the price tag.

WHO: OUATE - Ma Chantilly Lavante

WHAT: A sulfate-free, foaming 3-in-1 moisturising cleanser for hair, body and bath formulated with 95% natural ingredients and without allergens from the French children’s toiletries range.

WHY: Ma Chantilly Lavante which translates as 'My cleansing whipped cream', is a gorgeous smelling, fun bath time product that whips up into an incredible mousse that children can’t resist sculpting, playing with, smearing and crucially washing with! Infused with a hydrating and soothing complex it leaves skin and hair feeling beautifully soft, while linden extract protects and repairs the hair. Our judges loved the chic packaging and potential for hours of bath-time fun with a product that also works hard to really cleanse and nurture.

A range I first spotted at the kids trade show Playtime! in Paris. I thought it was th perfect Junior brand and so glad to see them win here. Hopefully this range will be more easily available in the UK soon. Otherwise, trips to Le Touquet it is!
