Junior Design Awards 2017 for Best Baby Footwear Collection
Buying baby's first pair of shoes is a rite of passage. Who doesn't look back on that first, teeny, tiny pair with a melting heart and a sense of wonder?
Cute they may be, but baby shoes also need to be comfortable and designed to encourage healthy foot development.
Thankfully, finding shoes that look good as well as being feet friendly is not a problem these days - as our four winning brands demonstrate perfectly.
THE PLATINUM AWARD FOR BEST BABY FOOTWEAR COLLECTION... AMY & IVOR
Handmade by a small team just outside London from chrome-free, vegetable tan eco leather, Amy & Ivor shoes are arguably the softest, dinkiest and most fashion forward on the market.
Having aced their classic collection of soft-soled moccasins in a range of neutral and traditional shades, they are now just as well known for their design-led seasonal collections which are always super cute and super cool.

We are huge fans of their current Pop Art-inspired collection featuring graphic shapes, head-turning patterns and pops of bright colour as were all of our judges who heaped them with praise.
Scamp & Dude founder, Jo Tutchener Sharp said:
"I love these, they are so cool! I absolutely love the style and the leather is so soft."
THE GOLD AWARD FOR BEST BABY FOOTWEAR COLLECTION... BOBUX
With over 25 years experience under their work benches, Bobux are experts when it comes to baby shoes.
Aside from going barefoot, Bobux believe that their Soft Soles are the best thing parents can do for their kids' developing feet, and their 2017 collection comprises more than 100 styles that range from newborn to toddler.
While the practical needs of mums and the comfort of babies lies at their heart - their shoes feature non-slip suede soles to help grip and elasticated ankles to ensure they stay on - Bobux have a great selection of super-cute colours, prints and styles that will go with any outfit.
Junior Editor Bonita says:
"I'm a huge fan of Bobux both professionally and personally - my 4-year-old daughter just loves hers.
"They are always her first choice in the morning for the comfort, fit and - I think - the fact she can always do them up herself!"
THE SILVER AWARD FOR BEST BABY FOOTWEAR COLLECTION... MOCCZ
Moccz have really put their creative caps on this year both in terms of design - their tropical themed shoes are amazing this season - and in terms of innovation.
Having perfected their velcro slip-on sandals and their hugely popular super-soft moccasins which come in a variety of coo-out-loud designs they have now invented a detachable sole that clips on and off their moccasins to provide added resilience and grip when toddlers start adventuring outside.
This makes them perfect for converting a shoe from indoor to outdoor, as they can be clipped on and off in seconds giving more heel support and grip for little feet, stopping the soft soles from getting wet and worn and keeping shoes germ-free for cruising about the house. Genius.
THE BRONZE AWARD FOR BEST BABY FOOTWEAR COLLECTION... BIMBLE
Bimble, which incidentally means to walk or travel at a leisurely pace, (we will be bimbling everywhere from now on) are a company on a mission to set little feet free. Founders and sisters Bethany and Osyth are the daughters of shoe makers so when they needed shoes for their own babies the natural conclusion was to make their own.
Their collection focuses on a classic soft-sole moccasin design that has lots of space in the toe for plenty of wriggle room and to make sure there is plenty of room for growth. Our judges loved the super soft leather, the simple unisex design and the great colours and finishes put forward by Bimble.
