Junior Design Awards 2017 for Best Baby Fashion Brand

As one of our most highly subscribed categories and one that is packed full of innovative and highly covetable pieces, the judges really had their work cut out for them when it came to deciding who should win Best Baby Fashion Brand.

After much cooing, clucking and a little bit of knitwear nuzzling we added a Platinum award to this category to recognise some truly outstanding design.

THE PLATINUM AWARD FOR BEST BABY FASHION BRAND... MARIE CHANTAL FOR MARKS & SPENCER

The judges were unanimous in their praise for high-end childrenswear designer Princess Marie-Chantal's second collaboration with British high street hero M&S.

Featuring Marie-Chantal's classic, clean lines and traditional silhouettes with a playful element - think peach tulle skirts and college-style knits - every piece offers the brand's luxury values at an affordable price.

Refreshingly, the design team behind the range have made sure that the boys collection is just as strong as the girls and includes items that would work for smart day wear as well as occasion wear.

The fantastic quality and fresh Spring/Summer colour palette was commented on by everyone.

Junior Design Awards judge Lisa Mehydene founder of online interiors boutique Edit 58 summed it up with her note:

"Gorgeous quality, nostalgic designs and a wonderful colour palette."

THE GOLD AWARD FOR BEST BABY FASHION BRAND... RACHEL RILEY

Designer Rachel Riley impressed is all with her quintessential British aesthetic and exquisite attention to detail, securing a coveted Gold award.

As an independent children's wear retailer, Rachel continues to design all her pieces in-house and has managed to capture the imaginations of buyers all over the world as well as the royal seal of approval and several celebrity devotees including the Beckhams and Beyoncé.

Celebrity clientele aside, our judges felt that the collection was beautifully made, featured gorgeous prints and trims and designs that could not look cuter on babies.

The fact that all the items would make perfect heirlooms to hand down through the generations was commented upon too.

THE SILVER AWARD FOR 2017 BEST BABY FASHION BRAND... NOE & ZOE BERLIN

Noé & Zoë Berlin's super cute, contemporary collections were hugely popular with our team of judges.

With an emphasis on comfort, bold prints and a commitment to using ethically-sourced and organic cotton wherever possible, the feel-good factor is evident in every stitch. Even the swing tags are made from recycled materials!

The judges loved the bright colour palette and graphic prints and particularly liked the matching headbands for baby girls. Junior Editor Bonita said:

"I'm a huge fan of Noe & Zoe's design aesthetic across baby wear and homes.

"The fact that they pay so much attention to fair wages, good working conditions and sustainability sets a fantastic example so they're winning on every level."

And, Junior Design judge Jenny Scott from Mothers Meeting said:

"This is a new brand to me and it's super cute - are there bigger sizes to fit me too?"

THE BRONZE AWARD FOR 2017 BEST BABY FASHION BRAND... SCARLET RIBBON MERINO

In a world of fast, throwaway fashion, Scarlet Ribbon Merino are committed to creating eco-friendly, beautiful baby wear made from Merino wool that is known for its health and wellbeing benefits for babies.

The judges loved their super-soft individual knitted separates that can be layered up or worn alone.

The five-piece capsule collection straddles traditional and contemporary - which all the judges felt was a range that would make the perfect new baby gift - and is timeless enough to be passed down to siblings and beyond.

"It's great to see a relatively young company making such big waves and as a big fan of traditionally knitted pieces, which are harder to find these days, I'm so pleased Scarlet Merino Ribbon has won an award."
